I think I won't notice a single difference until I see both side by side.

Camouflage basically to make it harder to pick out the lines from photos.

Can't see it (damn work!) but from what I'm reading, excellent reveal, indifferent new car. :( I was hoping for something special. An actual gold car would be awesome. Gold instead of silver, black instead of the red trim. That would be awesome.

It is very different under the skin indeed.

Pullrods and new rear suspension. Sidepods also have a different indent, i suspect all aero will be changed by Melbourne.

very similar indeed...the side pod intakes have a chunk out of them, and the body just behind the cockpit has less curves as it blends into the sidepods...and that's about it...

I cant see that being the exaust outlet they run in melbourne. mind you launches are always "chuck a bit of last years car on it" i assume so they are not giving away info they need not.

Doesn't look much different to last years car, hopefully it'll carry the momentum from the tail end of 2012 over.

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the older McLarens being driven in, and then Jenson in the P1. Great build up the the unveiling.
At first glance the car looks very similar, but hopefully some side by side comparisons (and more new parts being revealed in testing and Melbourne) will show up some interesting differences.

Surprised there are no vortex generators or the wee panel over the top of the side pods they had at the tail end of the season.

Might get slapped on for Jerez.

It's a good looking car, though I agree with those who wanted a bit more of a 50th anniversary theme to the livery. Maybe a special white and gold livery could appear around September time to mark the actual anniversary - run it from say the Belgian GP until Singapore?

Is it a high chassis with a modesty panel?

I would say the side pods are very different.

I think the bend to the nose is more pronounced than last years, maybe they have raised it slightly?

Of course it looks like the same car to us Internet morons. In the same way one might look at a pot of caster sugar and a pot of cocaine and think "these are identical, so surely they're both perfect for my morning cup of Joe."

Am I missing the definition of a modesty panel? I thought it was something that went over a stepped nose, all I see is a similar nose to last year.

Nice MP4-27, where's the MP4-28?

It's just so boring. Love or hate it, the Lotus was better to look at.

It's worth noting that last year's McLaren was well below the maximum allowed height, so they could theoretically raise it this year without having to resort to a modesty panel. It does look quite high though.

Modesty panels are silly. I don't watch F1 to look at 'the pretty cars', I watch F1 to see racing.

Here is the car as of Brazil:

Note the difference in elevation on the nose. The only way they could have done that is with a modesty panel.

I don't see it. The angle hurts it and the suspension/tyres on the show car is all the way down since it's not on the floor. So to get any good measurement out of it is useless.

Without knowing the heights of the chassis you can't say "It's the only way" . Remember the height of the chassis McLaren meets the nose height regs. Hence the no step last year.

Theres the launch MP4-27

http://gforcef1.files.wordpress.com/201 ... 826398.jpg

Looks very similar.

Actually heard it from Scarbs first. :P

If it was a high chassis it's weird very few of the others have mentioned it. It's a very big change for McLaren. It also doesn't have the ridges or bulges for the wishbone mounts that most of the high chassis guys go for.

Edit if thats a modesty panel. Their spray guy needs a pay rise for getting that to match so well.

Unless the modesty panel is allowed to be moulded into the nose, but I understood it to mean it had to be a separate panel .
