And IRBR will be hoping the RB9 is setting the timing screens purple throughout 2013.

Yup. Just a shame it seems so half-assed.

Andrew benson just put this on twitter:
Quote:
Yep, it has a stepped nose. You have to say that is the least attractive chassis-top treatment so far. Unusual from Adrian Newey

Why does everyone feel so entitled to live streaming online launches now? Relax a little, and wait for the photos and interviews coming later. Like we did for a long, long time before streaming vid.

How silly:

From fake charlie whiting on twitter:

Unreal. Don't launch then. “@ScarbsF1: #redbullRB9 @redbullf1 are aggressively stopping photos being taken, threaten to take cameras away.”

So blue, yellow, white, red, and purple.. Making that thing look like a night club on wheels. Or a little girl's MySpace page from 10 years ago. Oh well, it just better be fast.

I get that having a live stream is a privilege. But talk about alienating your fans. Photos are going to be taken weather they like it or not. If you dont want photos taken of your F1 car, then dont bloody invite the media!

The only color of the rainbow missing from the livery is Green.

Will be interesting to see what happens in the battle of the suspensions, McLaren and Ferrari with pull-rod, Red Bull and Lotus with push-rod.

The purple will look shite, until it's out in Natural light... and with that Rhyme, I bid you goodnight.

Bet the photo ban is lifted once their web people get their materials on the homepage. There are several guys in the back of the room with cameras on tripods. They would have been taken down straight away if they really weren't going to allow any photos. Maybe? Whatever. If Merc was the dysfunctional reveal, this is the old school reveal.

This.

Teams are getting more interactive and RB are stepping away from it, it seems. Even the previously prudish McLaren are upping the game when it comes to fans.

Without the fans F1 is nothing. The world is changing because of social media and it seems Red Bull are going backwards. If they were that worried about Pics why not do what Macca did with the car last year and put some dummy panels on.

Overkill...

Am I the only one who doesn't like any of the liveries we've seen so far?
They're old so dark, Mclaren: chromium, Mercedes: silver, Red Bull: blue / purple, Sauber: grey, Lotus: black. Ok Ferrrari is still red of course but even they added a black strip at the bottom. Force India is brighter but their livery sucks imo...

Whatever happened to the colours?

Why don't they just keep the cover over the car, that'll stop pesky journalists taking photos.

What are they thinking?

Members of the motorsport media, please and attend the launch of our new car, but don't let any of your readers/followers see what it looks like.

The livery seems to be the biggest surprise so far, it does look nice though, I do like the purple sheen. It should look good out in full sun driving past. Purple rippling along the car as it moves. It does look a little busy though with the stripes.

A heavy evolution is the most logical thing for redbull to stick with this year. It took them a few months last year to get the car balance right after the new exhausts. Push rod suspension I'm glad to see is still there. From what we saw in Ferrari last year it can take a while to come to grips with pull rod suspension, and my understanding is it will be completely unusable for 2014 because the lower noses will make the geometry unworkable. Better to stick with a set up you know than invest so much time and money on a solution that'll only last one year.

Well that took up a few minutes... What to do for the next 15 while I wait for the high res pics to be released?...

Sidepod undercut area is pretty trick. Rear brake duct area is interesting but could change. Cannot wait to see how it goes.

The media are pretty pissed off.

This is strange. If they fear about stealing their secrets, just put some fake car on stage or don't invite journalists. Silly Red Bull. So much about being cool team..

It's not a feeling of entitlement, it was the fact RBR posted on their website, their youtube page and their twitter account that the car launch was at 1pm today. 1pm comes, and after they get a load of hits on their websites, they get a CGI car video out for the fans and don't let anyone at the actual event post any pictures. If they didn't want anyone to see it, shouldn't have hyped it up and posted it all over their website.
