I loved HRT's 2010 livery, this is like a slightly better version of it, on a slightly faster car!

do like the livery and the interpretation of the step nose ... don't like the push-rod supsension ... expecting the exhausts to change during testing...

Looking at the pictures, there is actual clear step in the nose. Just that those 2 ridges tend to hide it when watching from side and hence we couldnt really tell in launch video where most of the shots were from side and lighting was not great.
Does not look like modesty panel or not as obvious as others.
Look at those air intakes. They are huge compared to 4 others we have seen this year so far.

Nice looking livery. Just because it looks a bit like he HRT 2010 one does that make it bad? No. The 2010 HRT livery was way better than their 2011 or 2012 ones IMO.

The modesty panel is a modesty panel it is scooped out though interesting choice but i don't see why they would do it, cant be for aero purposes as the regs say you cant gain any aero advantage from them.

Not sure which country you're in but the launch was at 12 CET, which is 11 GMT

How good it will look out on the track will depend on how they finish the paint and how the sun catches it but right now at least, I think it looks absolutely fantastic. Far better resolved than the predominantly white, black nosed livery from the past two seasons. Sharp looking lines too.

Yeah I wonder why they did that. It's not like the Ferrari is an abnormally hot engine, and Ferrari themselves have pretty small intakes (although they do have an extra one on top). Maybe it was a case of needing more cooling but it was down to either make the sidepod intakes bigger, or add another on top. Was probably easier to add it to the sides than redesign the top one to fit it in.

I like the paint

I hope it's visible in the other guy's mirrors on a rainy track

It looks like graphite on the live stream like a dark grey with a slightly lighter shimmer to it under light, i think its the type of grey merc should go for not that dull light grey with pale green.

I think the overalls look better than the car!

Not really a fan of the grey but it's better than last year.

True, the overalls look ragged & dirty!

But am excited for Hulk driving this car.

On top of the chassis in front of the driver, you can see it on some pics.

Just in front of the cockpit...

Their best livery since their return, but a little HRT... Miss the blue days!

It's not that it's a bad livery per se, just that it's been done before. Considering there's an almost infinite combination of colours, patterns and the suchlike, to copy a car from 3 years ago strikes me as a bit lazy, or at the very least they didn't do their research into what had been done before.

Love the modesty panel now I've seen it close up though. Hope it's legal and allowed to stay, it actually makes the step look really nice.

BMW had nothing to do with them when they had the majority of their classic blue and white livery...?

No, that blue came from their long term Red Bull sponsorship. The green in those liveries came from Petronas, and the white from Credit Suisse. The blue accents were part of the BMW livery like the ones they used in FBMW and for some of the sportscar/touring car racing.

wow, that looks nice! I always was a fan on the 2010 HRT livery so not really bothered about the resemblance there, i think that this car looks stunning tho, for me the best so far i think. They even made the stupid platypus nose look good (from the sides at least)

On their website Sauber state that the car is an evolution. But the sidepods are the tightest of all, and the radiators have been completely repackaged. Sauber could have easily made their modesty panel smooth and continuous like the McLaren, but chose to put a step in, and they state that it gives an improvement in the aerodynamics.

Just like when Sauber were the ones to adopt the Coanda exhaust solution, and many teams copied, the other teams are giving that unique modesty panel a thorough evaluation and assessing it's benefits and weaknesses.

On their website Sauber also state that they know they were weak in qualifying, and have made changes to the car too improve qualifying.

thought the regs say you aren't allowed to use the modesty panel to gain aero advantages?

Amazing indeed. The nose is beautiful. Definitely the most interesting launch so far.
