Well, tuned in this morning excited to see Merc number 4 before the RB9 launch kicks off. This is quite frankly an insult to fans across the world. You promised an unveiling yesterday, not between now and Monday. The whole situation has been handled extremely poorly.

I'm pretty sure that's 100% wrong. From memory they promised a gradual reveal between 4pm or 5pm or whatever yesterday and Monday. The speed of that reveal depended on Twitter hashtag activity.

They tweeted this at 13:18 yesterday:

"@MercedesAMGF1: The car launch won't be at 4pm GMT today, the door will appear at that time.. The rest is up to you all! We set the bar high :)"

Whilst this situation was a bit of a shambles, and a little bit of a silly idea, those who were expecting to see the W04 yesterday probably got a bit over-excited and didn't read the announcement correctly.

What the heck is going on with the top of it? Looks like they have a square engine intake. Could just be the photo tho.

It's either cropped or just a hash of a picture that bears no resemblance to the actual car.

Don't know if it's been picked up on yet but the stack of tyres next to the garage are 2008 spec grooved!

Fireworks, porn stars, white tigers, motorbike stunts, and an exclusive Swizz Beatz performance featuring Nicole Scherzy + Lewis' puppy (no I don't mean Nico Rosberg)

There's deffo something dodgy going on with the top of the car. I think it's gotta be a really poor render. They seem to have completely chopped off part of the rear wing!

Thinking about it, it could just be a photo of the F1W02 from 2011 before they added the stepped nose. The front wing certainly looks like it could be the same one

Don't be silly ricky, the front wing will be different and have various elements. Something as complicated as the Lotus front wing elements.

This is essentially the point I was trying to make earlier in the thread, but not as rudely as this.

There is no bar anymore. There was a counter, but it broke down and got stuck at while saying something like: 900+ more tweets till next stage. PR department just want people to keep tweet their hashtag, while they arbitrary deice when to open the door a bit more. Generally they let many people like me down who genuinely wanted to tweet to see more of their car. Sadly the amount of tweet doesn't matter anymore and we are just told to tweet. Very bad marketing.

So they have made the 2011 car again from the looks of it. I don't honestly think the car we'll see on Monday will look like they one in the "reveal". If it does then Merc have done nothing radical from what I can see.

I wouldn't have thought a radical change would be in their best interestes. TBH it seems like 2013 will be a development year for them, ready for 2014.

Tbh I just can't see Mercedes being able to challenge in either year. When it last got radical with rule changes yes Brawn won the title but they had a totally different team back then, this Merc team have done nothing to show they can challenge for championships. They'll be relying on others getting it horribly wrong in 2014 if anything.

Seriously, getting excited about what other people are discussing. Seems to me it's you who needs to calm down dear......it's only a car launch ;)

Anyhoo, year 4 for Merc... How long did Toyota and Honda stuck around? I really think next 2-3 year's are make or break and given how they handled Michael, I hope it is the latter.

is that supposed to be a combo of "stick" and "suck"?

now that you said it, I can't read it any other way but as a combo :)

I meant that both Honda and Toyota left after staying for a bit... I'm afraid if Merc don't start winning regularly enough, they will pull the plug so fast, it would be silly. I just hope that they will still continue as an engine supplier if they do leave as a constructor.

Merc will not quit in near future. They are building brand new engine.

They could still quit making their own chassis and owning their own team though just like Renault did.

I think Mercedes would rather gradually sell shares with option to buy the team back, but still ensure that Barckley team call their cars Mercedes, at least for some time. This is what Renault did in addition to staying as an engine supplier. Remember that Renault owned 0 shares in team during 2011 season, but cars were still officially Renault. I wouldn't expect sudden quit like Toyota, BMW or Honda.
