What moronic moments/acts of idiocy/brain fades/incidents do you think will forever be associated with particular drivers, or things that they'll never be able to live down?

For example, Lewis with the twitter-gate thing.
Nelson Piquet Jr. for crashgate.
Kimi for the ice cream (not a fail, but it's stuck with him ever since).
Massa/Alonso for the "Fernando is faster than you."

*changed title.

I guess instantly you are going to have to throw in the following from last season:

Moronic Moment + Acts of Idiocy + Moments of Brain Fade
Pastor - Valencia
Schumacher - Singapore
Grosjean - Monaco/Spa

Random Incidents
Kimi - Abu Dhabi

:D :D :D

First thing I thought of was Take Inoue being unhappy with the job the marshall's were doing and taking it on himself...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzqZV9V4R-s

Also Hamilton and Rosberg in the Montreal pits 2008ish

Just to share out the blame:

Vettel taking out Jenson Spa 2010.
Vettel taking out Webber in Turkey and still to this day, blame Webber.
MS on Hill and MS on Villeneuve.

there is only one winner (from the most recent years):

Massa in Malaysia crying for a new visor and getting an answer - 'Felipe, baby'

2nd place - Lewis Hamilton in Canada - it there is a gap... oops there was no gap and light was RED. Even kids know - Red light is a big 'NO' thingy

3rd I would share between Button getting into RBR pitbox and Maldonaldo turning into Perez's car in Monaco in FP

Hamilton's twitter antics were so funny last year. The best was when he publicly slammed Button for unfollowing his account on twitter and only later realized that Button had never followed his account on twitter. A double-FAIL.

Montoya had a brainfade and spun during the warm-up lap, it was probably the 2006 Australian GP, and he would have had to start from the back of the grid (or was it pitlane) but he got lucky because some else stalled and he got his original grid position back for the restart.

These ones don't stick forever but some Fails none the less.

Fisi missing his grid slot in Malaysia. Twice! (Think it was 2001 and 2003)
Trulli driving the wrong way to get into the Singapore pitlane.
Kimi sliding out of the pit entry in Nurburgring 2007.

DC in the pits, JB at Red Bull and Kimi in Brazil were all hilarious.

Does it have to be a brain fade, or simply losing it?

Hamilton lying to stewards for example was brainfade. All they had to do was check the team radio. But the even bigger brainfade is that the McLaren F1 team didn't know the rules for behind the safety car.

Schumacher spinning off behind the safety car in China '05 was quite embarassing.

Can be anything you think would be memorable and slightly embarassing for the drivers, as show in previous examples. Both of your examples are quite embarassing for the drivers, though Schu's through clumsiness and Ham's through being moronic/brainfade.

I'm glad I started this thread, to be reminded of Trulli going the wrong way into Singapore's pitlane, and Fisi in Malaysia!

Monaco 1982 was a massive ending fail.

Spa 98 was terrible as well (too many responsibles to name a few)

And Irvine in Brazil 94:

Webber for flipping 2 Le Mans car(s), an f1 car and for wheelieing an f1 car, although that wheelie I think we should really put into the win category.

I'm amazed no one mentioned McLaren's pit stop strategy in China 2007 and the end result.

Sure, I know there was a reasonable excuse for Lewis to end up in the gravel there. But at what was probably Hamilton's peak of the mania, and with a World Title basically hanging in the balance, that must stick in a lot of people's minds as a collosal cock up. For real F1 nuts maybe less so, but in the publics eye?

And then as mentioned the 2008 Canadian GP was bad for Lewis too. Rosberg gets a lot less criticism for and almost identical incident shortly after.

And JB in the RBR pit box was highly amusing. At least both JB and RBR had the decency to crack jokes about it later, realising it was properly just a silly mistake.

Most would probably view this as a fail (I however applauded him for being an absolute hero):

Thats a tough one, it wasn't his fault the race was a complete farce, he legitimately earned the podium place.

Definitely not a fail. A fail would've been not making it to the podium (or better yet in the points ;) )

But which had brain fade? Some blame DC, others blame Schumi. Collective brainfade, perhaps.
