Which Formula 1 Season regulations would you desire to have given the current driver line ups?

I would preferably like to see 2007 or even earlier some of 90s seasons' regulations.

2014 would be epic if Merceds suck, especially after all the hype for 2 years or so.

Nope the qualifying system wasn't as good as it is now plus overtaking was neigh on impossible

If 2014 doesn't go well I'm fairly sure they'll cut their (substantial) losses and leave the sport. Which would not be epic because with the current financial climate I don't think they'd find a buyer for the team.

True. Why would you want that now though?

I quite liked race fuel quali, it threw some surprises up like Truli on pole in Spa 09. It also added and extra dimension to the quali/race strategy.

But with no refuelling it's redundant...

In the nineties, driver skill was much more appreciated compared to modern F1 with high level aerodynamic and driver assisting technologies such as KERS and DRS.

Can't agree with that. In the 90's there were things like traction control, active suspension, ABS and launch control to varying degrees. If anything KERS and DRS make the cars more challenging to drive.
Although the cars these days have far more downforce, this doesn't automatically equate to being easier to drive. If you're able to carry more speed through a corner it means you also have to be able to react faster, be able to withstand the higher G's, brake more accurately and be able to react should the car under/oversteer unexpectedly.

I said that was one reason why i wouldn't want to go back to the 2007 rules

I just found it a bit artificial with drivers sometimes being congratulated for great laps just to find the next day it had been achieved with low fuel, it also diminished the achievement of qualifying on pole imo.

I'm not sure really there was big differences in car performances in the 90s, i quite like the tightening up of the field that hopefully we will see this coming season, also we seem to see bit of disparity between Vettel and Webber when the Red Bull has loads of downforce so i'm not too sure about the cars being easier to drive.

Also to add there was a bigger performance difference between cars so a driver really could make less of a difference in my opinion. Look at grids from the mid ninetys and you will see drivers qualifying in almost the same positions all season. We don't get that now. I really enjoyed it at the time but if we brought it back now I reckon people would bitch like hell.

Yes there was seasons when a car could be one if not two seconds clear of the field, thankfully we don't see such big differences nowadays
