Compared to last years cars I would say they all look better except for the Lotus and Caterham cars. My favourite looking car for 2013 is definitely the Maurussia, phwoar!

Most look pretty much the same on the top as last year. We know that McLaren and Ferrari have changed lots inside, Red Bull haven't stuck on their special bits yet and Sauber have their super thin side pods.

As for Merc and Force India. It's like they've chosen to simply use the 2012 cars with a small modesty panel on the nose. No movement forward at all. I was expecting much more.

This is one of those unique years when the rule changes are minimal, but everyone knows that 2014 will have massive changes. So the spirit of innovation and radical concepts are hibernating, and directed towards the 2014 cars. Every team, even including Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari have limited resources, and since 2014 will a pivotal year, they have allocated a higher percentage of resources toward 2014, leaving 2013 development at a lower level than previously.

2013 could be defined as a season of refinement and moderate evolution. For most teams, they have addressed perceived shortcomings and attempted to improve their strengths.

Its difficult to compare cars in terms of performance so early on but in terms of looks Id definitely put Sauber and Marussia right there on top. They look frickin awesome.

Nope. More likely the 2012 order will be repeated with some minor tweaks.

The field will close up, everyone saw what worked, and what didn't work last year. For the big teams such as McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull, improvements are incremental and a matter of refinement versus big changes and taking huge risks. For the backmarkers, they can design such features as Coanda effect exhausts from the start, and not play catch up like they did last year.

And there are also intangibles that are relevant. Everyone saw Ferrari's incredible reliability, and the marked effect it had, so everyone will keep that in mind. The car, although never the quickest, had bulletproof reliability. Their pit stops were consistent and without drama, and their strategy was impeccable, they made calculating risks when required, and never got caught out. They learned from what happened at Yas Marina 14 November, 2010.

The 2013 Pirelli tires will force the entire show to a whole new level of strategy and tactics, and I suggest everyone read up on "game theory", it will determine the outcome.
