I tried searching for this but there is no specific list I found that gives this info. Since the birth of F1 how many drivers have races only once? Proper race. I think Tiff Needle and Luca Badoer just raced once but who else?

Badoer has 58 races with 50 starts. I don't know what you define as a "proper race", but there must have been more than one in there.

I was going to write a list, but there's so many I can't be bothered!

Most of the 1 race drivers were back in the early era when teams could almost spring up over night in someone's shed, try their luck and the disappear for the next race.

In the more modern era, the only people of note are Marco Apicella in '93 for Jordan, St├ęphane Sarrazin in '99 for Minadri and MarKus Winkelhock (I love that name) as recently as 2007 had 1 race for Spyker after being the teams test driver for a couple of seasons.

EDIT: should've added that as far as 1 race wonders go, Wincklehock should get a mention as he was leading the grand prix for a while due to weather conditions, until It get red flagged. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8205510.stm(sorry, UK viewers only)

Some Minardi drivers I remember but not the amount of races -

Baumgartner
Doornbos

Also Winkelhock as mentioned, & the brilliant Ide with 4 races (well starts)

Or Kobayashi in 09 for 2 races basically won a seat for 3 more seasons

Good assessment! The garden shed is really funny.

Right up until the seventies many teams, cars and drivers just raced once or twice per season. Just in the first F1 season,1950, there were about six who only raced once.

Not meaning to nit pic, but I have to ask. How could he have run 8 races without starting them?

With "races" I mean race weekends, could have been worth writing. He failed to qualify for six races and didn't start in two.

A certain Masahiro Hasemi, 1 entry, 1 start and 1 fastest lap at the 1976 Japanese GP in a Kojima (I think)

Yeah Hamilton was too trigger happy with his strategy that race, having spun off at the start made a desperate switch to dry tyres.

He's still racing, Winkelhock and his teammate Basseng just won the 2012 FIA World GT1 Championship by one point.

Roland Ratzenberger. His first race was his last, before he died on that fateful day at San Marino :(

When I say 1 race wonders, Im talking about drivers who just race one f1 race In their whole career and left. This will not include people who start the 2nd race and failed to finish. That would still be 2 races.
Ok Got Badoer wrong. I just saw him race once. Thought that was it... My bad.
