Nothing more than Bernie making his annual comment to stir up the naysayers that come out of the woodwork to trash talk the GP. He is coming to Melbourne to negotiate but I'd be surprised if the new contract runs for more than 5-7 years.

The Victorian state government gets enough crap over hosting something that a lot of people consider unnecessary and too expensive. A lot of people would rather it not be there this year, let alone in 2063.

Unfortunately, you're right but I would be happy if it was held there for the next 50 years even though I probably/definitely won't be around for the last races, but who knows. My mother, who died last year, was nearly 98 so if I am lucky enough to have inherited her genes I could maybe make it

I can't imagine a tax-subsidised event being agreed for for 50 years, not without a hell of a lot of opt out clauses. 50 years seems, to an outsider anyway, as a ridiculously long period of time.
