I wonder what the odds are for Lewis to win the Chinese GP next year? The Merc suited that track and it was a very convincing win. If it is anywhere near 20/1 I'd stick a few ££ on it!

i dunno, Hamilton goes well at China (except for 2007 ;_;) but i dont think the Merc will be able to be as competitive in 2013 as it was during the early stages of this year.

At least in the hands of Nico the car finished all first 11 races without mechanical problems.
The teams succesrate has been highly comprimized by the troubles with schumi and his car wich was less reliable.

I just have to say to all Lewis fans that I wish good luck for Lewis. Hopefully he can help Merc to become one of the top-teams in F1.

It is inspirational to change environment once in a while. Many of us workers who change employer feel get the same feeling. :)

Monaco would be a better bet, Schumacher had pole there. China was a bit tyre lottery at this year

Even though he was young when his bro was born he's seen Nics struggles up close so I think this sort of thing is close to his heart

Interesting little video for all you Hamilton fans. It's always interesting to see the drivers doing stuff outside of the racing.

Lewis impressed me today at the end of p2. Reporting the Marshall who was standing close to the track.

Hamilton has been by far the best driver this year.

Without question. And I'm saying that thinking Alonso has been amazing.

I can't remember the last time the world champion (Vettel) was outclassed by two other drivers.

There is no other better races on the track, Lewis is simply the best. He drove whoe year clean and without any mistakes. I do believe Lewis is/whas the backbone or the works horse if you like at McLaren, McLaren defo. gonna feel it when there is no Lewis anymore

Here's some quotes from Lewis' interview with Lee McKenzie that will be broadcast during their qualifying build-up today. Considering there were many people saying that he'd alienated himself at McLaren and that they would be glad to see the back of him, it seems as if he's going to be leaving on very VERY good terms. I can definitely see him back at Woking one day.

I agree that McLaren will be much the poorer without this one-of-a-kind talent.

Agreed, if they would have fallen out, it would not cause so much pain for Hamilton to leave.

Jenson: "It's a pity things have got to change."

Hear, Hear! I'm a Jenson fan first but i've enjoyed seeing these two drive together. It's a huge shame to see him leaving despite the difference of opinions the fan bases have had over the years.

Lewis' demeanor has improved massively recently and I honestly believe it will do him the world of good to spread his wings and partake in a different Formula One experience with a different team, this in turn will probably improve his character even more and I have little doubt that Lewis will become the de facto driver I support when Jenson retires.

Great qualifying Lewis, I hope you can finish on a high tomorrow!

Did anyone notice that mclaren was smart enough to put button out in front of vettel in the last qualifying run compromising his last lap. Where was this clever strategy in the rest of the year. Hammy's lap was awesome as usual.

I think you will find that Vettel passed Button on the out lap and set his time before Button did, so there was no strategy here.

Well spotted Chinki

JB allowed vet passed to maximise the grip with a later lap

Still think that button coming out right in front of him in pit lane had to screw up his consintration. Then having to figure out whether button was going to let him by didn't help either. Drivers don't like distractions.

These guys are so focused it wouldn't bother them

The two mclaren boys were on it and vettel was found wanting

When you are as focused as these guys are its the small things that bug you. If you have ever driven before you will find that when you are focused someone coming out in front of you would bug you and then you got to start thinking about whether he is going to let you by. This takes away the focus that you had when you left the pits. Now i'm not saying that you can't get the focus back but it throws you out of the routine you had set in your mind. Just my opinion.

I'm sure Lewis will learn a lot and will benefit from going to Mercedes, in many way, even if it doesn't go to plan. I have a strong feeling that he will end up back at Mclaren, for another spell. If Hamilton was available, I'm sure Mclaren would have no problem in taking him back. Drivers of Lewis' calibre are very rare, no team could resist such a good driver.
