I'm... quite confused by the thread subject (I may be missing something!) but as my two cars have been a 106 and a 307, I'm pretty positive making either sound like an F1 car wasn't ever an option

I think the OP is refering to the sound that some cars make through an AM radio (an interference). What makes the sound ┬┤pleasing' is that it's 4x higher in pitch than the actual RPM of the engine (in a 4 cylinder) so if you go at 4000 RPM it sounded like 16000 RPM. And yeah...it's cool ;)

...I was missing something, then! Well that actually sounds pretty amazing. Are there any videos of people doing this on YouTube (I'd look myself but quite frankly, I've no idea what I'd even enter in the search field)?

Sure, I've done that, but I never knew it was 4x higher, are you just estimating or is that fact?

I did this in my Dad's Volvo. Don't be ashamed, it's quite natural.

You need an old am radio with a manual tuner. It'll eventually tune into interference from your engine revs via your speakers and its mental !

How easy it is to find that frequency? Does it work over a large range?
