I'd actually go with the Maxi. That was one seriously ugly car. Possibly beaten by that awful frog-eye Scorpio. Or the Morris Ital. Or the Ambassador. In fact pretty much any british car from the 70's/80's. It's no wonder we have no car industry. Then there's the SssanYong Rodius... And if you like your cars ugly, try googling Pontiac Aztec...

I just did and now I'm going for a lie down until the pain passes. According to one journalist is handles as badly as it looks. If that's true it would be one f****** dangerous car.

See below if you're feeling brave.

Mine is an automatic Diesel...not the most exciting car in the world, but I drive 60.000 km per year and I want a comfy, reliable, safe and fuel efficient car.

My ride, summer 2011, 61 UK plate, Chevrolet Cruze LTZ, 1.8

Dashboard slightly different, as instead of the white / cream colour filler parts I have black, which looks much better to me!

Also on motability like the other guy, but this set me back £300!
Bluetooth and parking sensors :D

Not really, it's a much more modest version

But I don't want performance cars any more. I drive along France and Spain, where speed is seriously enforced nowadays. In the past, I used to have some decent machines (Renault 21 Turbo, Alfa 75 V6, BMW 535i), but roads where much more "free" back then...and I suppose also that I'm getting old!

i've sold my last car (a BMW 3-series) about 3 years ago, currently I just walk or ride on my bicycle to go to the office every day.

nevertheless, my wife agrees to let me buy a new car as long as it is a Toyota Prius! so I like to hear from any other forum members here: does anyone have/drive a Prius? is it recommended to buy one?

what is that? X1 or X3?

Neither, its the facelift 120diesel sport, 187bhp.

Do you think the black mirrors make it look too boy racer?

it would have been better in white but no i don't think it looks too boy racer.

Finally came today after many delays and bull shi**ing by the salesman at BMW.

My gearbox on my POS Mondeo is making some horrific noises so I just brought a Ford Ka for £500 off ebay.

I was going to save for soemthing a bit quicker like an MR2 or an FTO but that plan is scuppered so It's another "disposable" car for the time being.

If anyone wants a Mk2 Mondeo 1.8 Verona for spares or repairs Any sensible offer then PM me :-P :-P

Not as nice as the Benz, Beemers and Audis being shown thus far, but it works for me...

A 2011 Chevy Impala... big, comfortable, and capable for our roads.

Had a couple of the old shaped X5's (not at the same time), but didn't want a new/current one because they made it too fat and bulky for where we live.

The first one I sold to three chinese guys who turned up with a carrier bag full of used £50 notes - £28,000 worth! All sorts of strange things go through your mind while you're sitting in the kitchen of a fairly isolated house, surrounded by three very dodgy looking strangers, counting out bundles of money...

dunno, nike, how did you?

I can't afford the cars that I really want, and I traded in a Grand Prix on the Impala. For some reason I could never come to like the GP?

I wish I still had my Charger, but marital issues spelled the end of my Charger days.

A mate of mine went from a 33 which he had handling on rails, to this "last of the rear wheel drive" monster. I loved it, but it took some effort to drive fast and never handled like the 33. He once stuffed it into a kerb and it was never right afterwards. Great looking car though, gotta love Alfa's when they get it right.

Alfa's.. Owned 2. A 33 and a 156 SW. Great cars that I love but at the same time a nightmare.

Here's mine, a white 2009 VW Passat CC, 2.0T TSI, 6MT, fully equipped except for HIDs. Beige and black two-tones interior. ~150,000 kms on the counter and still running like a charm!

Image

My first car was a red 1992 Jetta 1.8L. Then I bought a silver 2006 Jetta 2.5L (with a 2008 engine). My girlfriend has been driving her black 2006 Golf 2.0L since 2010. She wants a Volvo C30 next, but we will probably go for a wagon Passat or Audi as we have a kid now and planning on having two more. Gotta love them little ones!

Some of them are a nightmare. I guess I've been lucky because I've never had much trouble with my six Alfa's.
I handle them with care, so I always let the engine warm up slowly. I check the oil and stuff and every now and then I give it an Italian tune-up :)

Here are some pictures taken last month on a trackday on a soaking wet Zandvoort. Later in the session, the track dried.
It was a lot of bullying around. Did some awesome powerslides, but also two 180's :)

I did the hot-car sports car thing and moved on. We are down to 2 cars now, mine being a Previa, which believe it or now would make mincemeat out of many of my past sporting cars in driving and and performance. I love it. Still have a couple of bikes in the garage though :]

No no no. Save yourself a lot of money, and grab yourself a stage 1 mark 4 Astra GSi. Stage 1 by TX will generate around 275BHP and is quicker than a VXR. Approximately £4000 cheaper and they look so much nicer!

I have a Vauxhall Astra GSi Mark 4 in Arden Blue, Stage 1 that is completely written off due to being parked under a tree! A branch damaged the central supports. It's currently on eBay if anyone fancies a purchase ;)
My everyday car is a Vauxhall Astra Mark 4 2.2 16V SRi, which I love - but is being traded in for a standard Astra GSi, Arden Blue in a fortnight. Will then take her to stage 4/5.

Am a bit fanatical about Mark 4 Astras. Price wise, they're fantastic cars, the GSi is beautiful!

I decided to buy a Mitsubishi Delica. This isn't mine but it is similar.

I brought it to serve as a weekend utility vehicle and an occasional campervan. 4x4 and a 2.8 turbo diesel with loads of torque. Had a little run off the lights in it and it was pretty quick for the first couple hundred meters. The effect on the fuel gauge when you start testing the 0-60 times is frightening. So on that basis I'm mostly going to drive it sensibly.

Out of interest, why do people put all that time, effort and money in to a Vauxhall Astra?

I really don't get it.

1.8 litres of justice
4 cylinders of pure mahem
4-speed automatic gearbox, because that extra pedal would've weighed too much in this mean machine.
Front-wheel drive, because anything that isn't at the front is losing.
Manual window operation, so you can set the glass to be open to the optimum anti-drag level
A single airbag; any more would've compromised its power-to-weight ratio

Behold:

The 2001 Toyota Corolla, Sedan

Imagine the smile on my face when I smoke someone in a car they have spent £70-£100 grand on, I could have had an impreza or old evo for the same money but I'd sooner be different.

I will admit I think the next level will be about the max I'll do with it and then i'll give it to my girlfriend and buy a R32 or 34 skyline hopefully in standard ish form so I can put my own stamp on it.
