About to leave work a little early.
A little game for those with too much time:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fi ... _the_worstI must say, I have seen Battflefield: Earth. In fact within 24 hours of it I had to go to hospital. It was probably the infection I had, but the two occurred very closely together.

Bond for me was about believable technlogy and a good story. The ridiculous amounts of beautiful women help too. It always has had a certain charm that differentiates it from the rest of the ilk. And now it stands alone just on longevity. Gadgets don't ruin it when they are not the focus. But when you get too campy and silly, it sucks. Bond should be pithy and sharp witted, sarcastic and narcissistic but above all else someone who goes the whole hog to get the job done... whatever that entails. Gadgets getting increased prominence generally meant Bond got more silly as a character and ruined the films for me. (I really dislike Roger Moore as Bond for this reason, though some of his films were still decent).
I must say, I wouldn't have ever said Moneypenny was a secret agent. In my mind she was the civil servant, and the lack of excitement in her life was part of the reasoning for her craving on Bond. I suppose that still translates to new Moneypenny, though as you say it is a little odd to go from sniper, fighting and general action girl to arranging meetings and sending a card to the bosses wife on her birthday when he forgets. It is a bit odd. Surely she could be a trainer or some kind of useful analyst type? Then again, I suppose we don't know her exact role at MI6.
Anyway, Skyfall I look forward to seeing again. I just found it a very different movie from other Bond films in the main series. I haven't got a surefire opinion on it yet. Need to order the blu-ray (my first non-comic book hero blu-ray! ohhh, exciting).
Hmmm, interesting thoughts indeed. Regarding the gadgets, why do you think that they ruined Bond? Bond was different than any other action/spy films because of the gadgets and the girls, at least in my view (and a lot of other people I've had discussions with). Even from other spy series/films from back in the day, say from the Saint (in it's later years). I'm not saying that the gadgets make the movie, but it was always cool how he got off a difficult situation due to a little gadget hidden in his watch or something. It was a trademark if you want. And it was the reason many people watched it, not only for the action, but the cars/gadgets/girls as well. Roger Moore brought the comical element for me, not the increased gadgets!
You are right about the bed thing, I don't remember seeing them in bed. But the whole tension before (when she is shaving him, chatting within inches from each other) and afterwards (in the club, she's jealous of him checking the other girl) hints to me that they did sleep together. I have no issue with Moneypenny's age/colour, purely from a continuation point of view. Same with Felix, I would prefer if they had kept the same image of the character. Could you imagine Rocky 7 with Rocky being a 15 year old Philipino guy? Or Iron Man 4, being played by Morgan Freeman? Just doesn't fit. I was also thinking, it will be interesting to see how can we have Moneypenny being a field agent, then a "grounded" agent (so far so good), but then a secretary???? How do they make this leap?
