RULES:

For the sake of the servers, we ask that the length of the photo on the longest side be no more than 1200 pixels - this can be set when uploading images to picture hosting websites.

The contest ends at 23.59 UK time on November 30th, and voting opens from then until 23.59 on December 5th.

Only entrants may vote, and must submit their top 5 choices to me along with a topic idea for next month - winner's choice carries - and NOT to one of the other mods - they will not oversee the competition unless I am unavailable for any reason.

Only one photo is permitted per member, and may be changed at any point until the deadline. The photo has to have been taken by the member posting it.

Members may not vote for themselves, and since not voting gives you a higher chance of winning, it will be penalised by a deduction of 15 points [points are allocated as 15 for each first-placed vote, 10 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 1 for 5th] to redress the balance, unless for any reason the member in question is unavailable during voting, in which case alternative arrangements should be made in advance.

5 points are also on offer to the member who contributes the most creative interpretation of the subject matter, at my discretion where appropriate.

Please remember indecent images are subject to the same rules in this thread as the rest of the forum.

All that remains is for me to announce the title. Therefore the November 2014 Planet-F1 Forum photo competition title is:

ARCHITECTURE

Although few entries came in last month, the fight for victory went to the wire.

4th [27] Howling Shadow
3rd [32] Asphalt_World

Then SDLRob and minchy were tied for victory with 35 points each. Both had one 1st place vote and two 2nd place votes. As per rules created when this situation nearly arose in the past, the win goes to the member with the fewest previous wins, hence minchy edged it. That it came down to a technicality shows how strong the entries were last time, though they were few. Congratulations to you both.

It would be a draw, but we need a single topic so one of you has to win. It seems fair to give it to the less established winner in the interests of more variety in themes.

Alien, last time someone got anything for not playing, Tufty lost 50 points :P

I don't have a nice photo of it, but the Palace of Westminster has got to be the single most astounding building I have ever seen. Up close it is just... amazing.

Actually, I'm going down to London next week. I may yet enter this.

I have several I could enter, because I think anyone who likes photography likes photographing buildings. I'll go with this one I took when I was in Chicago a few years ago:

What do you call the type of photos that make city-scapes look like Lego?

I remember seeing it for the Monaco GP this year or a previous year. Figured people in this thread might have more of an idea.

I hope we get a few more entries, if not it's going to be a tie with 10 points each!

Taken on a water taxi in Boston harbour. May look a but cheesy but - as it stands now - I'm in for a top-three slot!

I was hoping to get photos of uni sometime, a nice late 19th century building in Gothic style. Then November ran out and my camera stayed firmly pointed at my baby sister.

Well, if parents are the architects of their children, then surely that makes those photos count?

I have the perfect shot for this subject (which isn't another pile of my dirty laundry), but I can't get it until Wednesday. Alas, I'll have to try and shift it in to next month's topic.
