Batman V Superman Ultimate Edition is a much, much better cut of that film than the cinema version was. Also, it is now 2.5 hours. That isn't too long for a movie like this, Dark Knight was about that length, as have a few of the marvel films been too. Given how much better this is, and how many little niggling plot details it clarifies or outright eliminates, why did the original actually get released like that. I liked this film as the cinema cut, but I would say this was a significant improvement. However, for those that really didn't care for the film, this isn't a cut that will change opinions (imo).

Saw the extended cut at a friend's home theater a couple months ago and none of us really cared for it, so I am really glad I didn't see it in the theater.

I agree with you about Guardians being the best though. I would put the first Avengers movie right up there with it and I rate Deadpool slightly ahead of Civil War, but they are all great movies.

There are aspects of the UC that make the movie better but for a few people I know it doesn't touch on their issues with the movie.

unfortunately, the lack of success of BvS will impact the DCCU for a number of movies. WB & DC are failing atm to get a grip on the universe. they've started flawed and they're not doing a good job of fixing the flaws.

The biggest problem facing DCCU right now is simply the characters they have chosen to focus on themselves. For one there is no reason batman needed rebooting and they could have rolled the previous version right into the greater universe without any issues. They've simply replaced the best characterisation of batman in film history with a far less popular one for no reason.

Secondly the B-grade heroes of aquaman, the flash and Android will never be popular. They're simply far too generic.

Wonder woman they have done well and I can't wait for her movie to come out. If only they had retconned her stupid rope away. The music score is simply incredible Imo so that will make up for it in a way.

And superman they stared great but old habits die hard and they're ruining him already. The big selling points of current superman were that it was darker and grittier and didn't involve kryptonite... Then after one single movie they've added kryptonite and given him ptsd from the one single battle he was involved in so that he is now a far softer more forgiving superman just like the old one that nobody liked.

DC simply can't seem to stick with an idea and are chopping and changing all over the place which ends up just seeming like they made it up on the fly.

Watched 'Eye in the Sky' yesterday. a great cast & a really thought provoking premise make for a chilling at times movie. Sir Alan Rickman's final lines in the movie are intensely delivered.

would really recommend people watch it.

Just saw Suicide Squad for the first time.

What a pile of absolute f**king horsesh*t. I'm actually annoyed that I didn't turn it off after the first hour (at which point it felt like it had been about 4 hours). I usually think it sounds like a bunch of pretentious wanky bullsh*t when someone says a film "fails on many levels" and things like that. You know what, I get what they mean.

We had a bunch of bad guy characters that they tried to make into kinda good guys. Deadshot kills people and can sleep easily at night. But it's okay, he doesn't kill women and children and wants to look after his kid so he's a good guy really. Except he f**king kills people for money. I get they might not want to try a villain protagonist.
We had a plot with horrific pacing - we also had scenes with horrendous pacing within them and tones that jumped about a fair bit.
We had characters that felt wholly inconsistent.
We had action scenes that generally felt like one action scene just reshot in different locations.
The introduction and establishing of characters was done really poorly.
The constant use of pop songs made me feel like someone on the Suicide Squad team saw how Guardians of the Galaxy did their muysic and tried to emulate that. But rather than carefully chosing music and moments, they just clusterf**ked in as much as they could.
Captain Boomerang basically did nothing for the plot and served no real purpose. The cast of characters was already quite large... did we need him at all?
I'm not sure the premise even made sense. Did the Suicide Squad really do much that a team of special forces couldn't have done? Maybe fighting the Bro-chantress at the end but the rest of it. Sending in special forces would seem more sensible. Do you need deniable soliders for a mission like that? It's not like it was a covert operation when an entire city got f**ked up before they even went there.

I could probably write a thesis on how bad that film was. I shudder to think what someone who is actually into film would be able to say about it. I'm actually angry that I spent over 2 hours of my life watching this bollocks.

As for DC. I stand by Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman (extended edition at least) as actually being pretty good movies. I'm probably about as pro-DC as you are likely to stumble upon without going looking for it. And I'd avoid this film desperately if I could. I don't know if this was just craply done to begin with or if the big-wigs ordered changed and edits and reshoots that screwed it up, but this film was awful. I hate to be that fat angry guy bitching about a film on a message board (especially since it's a film thats been out on home media for a while and it's an F1 message board) but I'm quite tiddled off that I watched this. It's not the worst film I've ever seen but it wasn't worth the time or the money.

Last film I got tiddled off at for wasting my time was the never ending King Kong film that Peter Jackson made.

LMAO, that was a great summing up of a film that I haven't actually watched cause I turned it off after 30 mins!!!

I think it's odd how marvel have got their films spot on compared to DC, but the Marvel tv shows are no where near as good as the DC ones! The only Marvel tv show I watch is Agents of shield. Got bored with Agent Carter almost straight away in season 2 and have only finished the first season of Date Devil from all the Netflix Marvel shows, got bored of the rest half way through the first seasons and never got into season 2 of Date Devil. But I watch Flash, Arrow, Super girl and Legends of tomorrow every week without fail that it's on, 4 really good tv shows imo.

And just to give King Kong a bit of credit, if you skip every scene set in New York at the start and end, it makes a nice film! Looking forward to Skull Island.

To be fair to Captain Boomerang, he was played by Jai Courtney, and managed to not be the worst part of the film. Then again, a film that casts Jai Courtney tends to be awful. Divergent, Die Hard 5, Terminator Genesys, Suicide Squad. It's a very poor resume for an up and coming actor.

Changing the subject, I recently saw Rogue One. It's just incredible. Not just as a Star Wars film, but just generally as a film.

Haven't watched BvS yet but it's clear to me that the only thing resembling the Frank Miller comic is indeed the fact Batman and Superman fight against each other, because it picks up from a completely different point than the comic. In the comic, it's actually Superman who's called by the White House to stop Batman's rampage, and Superman himself is not a factor until the story is close to the end, as opposed to the film which seems to show Batman's reaction to the existence of a near-god in his world.

I think it makes more sense in the wake of Man of Steel to flip it because there is no backstory to show Batman's mindset to set up TDKR's story.
There is an easter egg in BvS that teases the death of Jason Todd, which would have made an amazing story arc in the darkverse that Zack Snyder is intent on giving us.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is an insane, hilarious, crazy ride. Groot & Drax steal the show again... 10/10

Watched Fast 8. Enjoyable, nothing more than the previous ones if you like a story like that. Can't see it going on for much longer though. Maybe one more...

Considering how much money they earn on that franchise, it will go on for a long time still.

I think it'll keep going until we get to see how Dwayne Johnson's character eventually becomes Sarge from Doom :-P
