Mayhem and I have teamed up. Our team will be called "F1 Mayhem" which I hope does not foreshadow our performance in the league!!!

Sounds like a plan.

The first race was always going to be about damage control, and coming out of it with a good haul of points was the priority. And if I've done my sums correctly we're ahead of Force Indian Takeaway, so this result feels almost like a win!

... That said, why'd you have to go and mess up your back, Bottas? You could've knocked Vettel off the podium and given No Limit Excedrin Racing a dominant 28-point start to the season >:{

Bit of a hijack but is mother's day different in different countries? It's St Patrick's day here in Canada

It is St Patrick's day here in the UK too. Not sure when Mother's Day is in Canada but I found this on the UK.

Is St Patrick's day not the coming week Thursday. Meaning this is St Patrick's Day Sunday?

However today has been Mother's Day in the UK and what a lovely day it has been. Apart from waiting up for the race and falling asleep after the first corner and having to watch a re-run!

It's cool - we chased down Multi21 last year, so we'll just have to do the same with you guys this year ;)

My bad, I googled "St Patrick's day UK 2015" and it came up with a parade which was happening on Sunday. Put 2&2 together and got 5, it is indeed Tuesday 17th March in the UK.

Phew, thought I'd missed out on the Guiness celebrations for a second ;)

I always thought it fell on the closest Thursday for some reason. Mother's Day falls on the closest Sunday then or Mothers Day is March 17th every year in some places?

EDIT: It's a Thursday next year and I have plans for it. Going to Cheltenham Festival I guess I made an incorrect assumption based on that it was always Thursday. You know what they say about assumptions!

I like the fact the Irish celebrate St Patrick's day so passionately. Wish we would do the same with St George's day. Mainly as St George's day is my birthday and I would love to have it off every year without having to book it off.

CarlPotter's Top Three Championship 2015: Australia
F1 is back!... and picking up pretty much where we left off. Mercedes is still the dominant force with Hamilton again taking victory and Rosberg following him closely home. Though few would have predicted the Ferrari appearing to be best of the rest before the season started as Vettel took the 3rd spot on the podium.

Most of us guessed it was going to be a Mercedes walkover, with only who would finish in front to choose. However only 3 participants got all 3 results correctly and kicked off their seasons with a round victory and a Perfect podium. Jenson's Understeer, jimmyj and, on his debut, mcdo take a bow.

Results: Australia
1. Jenson's Understeer - 14pts
=. jimmyj - 14pts
=. mcdo - 14pts
2. 78aj - 8pts
=. Black_Flag_11 - 8pts
=.CPG - 8pts
=. Exediron - 8pts
=. fatsi - 8pts
=. Lotus49 - 8pts
=. Mayhem - 8pts
=. pubpokerplayer - 8pts
=. robins13 - 8pts
3. cm97 - 1pts
=. coulthards chin - 1pts
4. Bentrovato - 0pts
=. dislexik - 0pts
=. Fountoukos13 - 0pts
=. Icemanjee1 - 0pts
=. Saz - 0pts

CarlPotter's Top Three Championship 2015: Singles Standings
1. Jenson's Understeer - 14pts
2. jimmyj - 14pts
3. mcdo - 14pts
4. 78aj - 8pts
5. Black_Flag_11 - 8pts
6.CPG - 8pts
7. Exediron - 8pts
8. fatsi - 8pts
9. Lotus49 - 8pts
10. Mayhem - 8pts
11. pubpokerplayer - 8pts
12. robins13 - 8pts
13. cm97 - 1pts
14. coulthards chin - 1pts
15. Bentrovato - 0pts
16. dislexik - 0pts
17. Fountoukos13 - 0pts
18. Icemanjee1 - 0pts
19. Saz - 0pts

Just to note for now I have done the championship order alphabetically where we have the same points. Obviously in a round or two this wont be an issue and will be decided on perfect podiums and round wins as it was last year.

CarlPotter's Top Three Championship 2015: Constructors' Standings
1. F1 Mayhem (jimmyj & Mayhem) - 22pts
2. McLotus (Lotus49 & mcdo) - 22pts
3. No Limit Excedrin Racing - (Exediron & pubpokerplayer) - 16pts
4. Force Indian Takeaway - (coulthards chin & Jenson's Understeer) - 15pts
5. Fire & Ice (robins13 & Saz) - 8pts
6. My Heart Will Grosjean - (Black_Flag_11 & Fountoukos13) - 8pts
7. Multi21 (cm97 & Icemanjee1) - 1pts
8. Team 4 (Bentrovato & dizlexik) - 0pts

So after the first round the new teams of F1 Mayhem and McLotus leap to the top of the standings. With defending champions Force Indian Takeaway in 4th

Next up Malaysia, will Mercedes remain as dominant or will Ferrari be able to get closer?

I am an idiot. The parade was on TV the day I posted. St. Patrick's Day is March 17 here just like everywhere else.

Malaysia picks
1 Hamilton
2 Rosberg
3 Bottas

I was going to put Seb 3rd but I think the Williams is the faster car and am gambling Bottas will be back and hungry.

Very, very tempted to put Bottas 3rd, and might even come back and change my prediction yet.

Could you clarify the deadline. Full points before FP1. Half points after FP1 and no points after 20:00 on Friday?

We have never done a half points scenario as far as I'm aware.

Deadline is 20:00 UK time (GMT) on the Friday of the race weekend. That should mean it falls after FP1 & FP2 most weekends. Any entries after 20:00 don't get counted. I managed to miss a couple myself last year!

That's what I thought Blackflag but it was the paragraph that confused me.

The deadline to set your podium is 20:00pm UK Time on the Friday of each race weekend. This has changed from last season to allow extra time for everybody to see what happens in the first two practice sessions. Any changes, or additional entires made after that time will result in any points scored for that race being halved and they will be ineligible for any bonus points. Additionally, any new entries made after 20:00pm UK Time on the Friday of each race weekend will not count.

Thought it was a change for this year. So as long as I have my picks in by 8pm Friday regardless of when practise is I'm all good?

Yes sorry that's my fault. Carl originally had it as 19:00 Friday UK time then anything that was posted between 19:00 and 20:00 scored half points.

When I started it this year I decided to change it to a flat 20:00 deadline. But I only changed the time in Carl's OP and didn't read it through to see if it still made sense.

I've updated the OP now and yes just to clarify the deadline is 20:00 Friday UK time. Anything made before then is awarded full points, anything after will not be counted. FP1/2 times are irrelevant.
