At the pub... No time to think. Exactly the same as last race it is.

This better pay off or I'm out of the running completely

That seems quite conventional to me and not high risk.

May still change these when the weather forecast becomes more accurate...

25+25+8+18+25+0+25+0+0+25=151, pretty ok even though I was again stupid enough to think Williams would score any points in the wet...

Round 20: Sao Paulo, Brazil

The Brazilian Grand Prix was an absolut chaos for everyone except the two championship contenders. Drivers were spinning left and right in the torrential rain with casualties emerging before even the start of the race with Grosjean crashing on the out lap. Ericsson crashed at the pit entry causing the second SC since the race started behind it. At the restart Raikkonen crashed before even the start line causing a red flag in what could have been a horrible accident. Another SC and Red flag followed, much to the disappointment of the crowd. At the second restart Verstappen was slicing his way through the field managing to overtake 13 cars to finish on the podium. In the end, Hamilton won the race unchallenged from Rosberg and brought the gap down to 12 points.

Here are the results of Top 10 Competition:

In third place, with a score of 156, receiving the "Superb Verstappen Trophy"

My luck has taken a decidedly rotten turn these last couple of races, on both occasions going from a good or very good position early to a very bad position by the end, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Covalent has done a very good job and I simply haven't ever since Germany. I took a chance on a dry race today and it didn't work out, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

And who knows, maybe I'll score 250 in Abu Dhabi and take it back at the last!

Indeed, below is a list of contestants that still have a chance for the title, so it's far from over for you yet ;)
FWIW, while I of course will be gunning for the victory I do hope you do well too at the last round since it would be a shame to see you not finishing in the top 2 after the year we've had in the competition. I imagine it must be a tricky decision to make regarding the last prediction, go too conservative and you won't lose any places but won't gain any either, too bold and you either win big or lose big. Also there's an extra challenge with the hidden predictions.

At least I won't be losing any points from deliberately mixing up my prediction relative to your this time, which has happened a few times since I lost the lead! :-P

No, really, I'm not going to be trying to regain the lead in the final race. If I was locked in to 2nd place I'd try some huge gamble, but since I'm not (in fact I'm barely hanging on to it as is) I'll actually be focusing a lot more on trying to keep 2nd than I will on trying to catch you. There's always next season for that, and it would be a huge disappointment for me after having only spent a single race outside of 1st or 2nd position to end the season that way.

Basically, TypingChicane is my target for Abu Dhabi. That, and scoring a perfect race. In my two appearances to date I've never finished off the podium in Abu Dhabi, so I'm hoping that form will carry me through for a strong end to the season.

Lesson learned, never gamble on the weather. I've gambled every single bloody time any rain was forecast this year and it bit me on the backside so I decided to just go for a normal pick in Brazil and I sneak a win.

I need to remember this for next year then.

Wow! I went from 12th to 19th in one race x(

That'll teach me not to get a FP penalty if I hadn't learned my lesson enough times yet! And chancing my arm at a Verstappen win was a bit too optimistic!

Going into the final round I mentioned secret picks for the leaders although it looks now as if Covalent can not be caught, however there are still important places still up for grabs so I've decided to give this option to the top 10 in the championship, as I myself also come into this category these picks need to be pmed to Fountoukos13 who will act as an independent adjudicator as such.

One reason I've limited it to the top 10 is because of the limitation of the inbox.

Also I would ask not to post your scores after the race as it will give away who has won and perhaps the finishing places.

Going to cost me a few places I think. :(

I guess if you nail it you could still finish second.

I got lucky with Kimi crashing, without that you'd still be 40th. But hey, it's still close and I made a lot more than 22 points on you in Brazil, nothing to say that Abu Dhabi won't go the other way.

Holy cow, early picks led to another podium! And the top ten might even be in reach.

As always, falling out of the top 24 would also be easy to do. In fact, even though I am in 13th place, I am closer to 24th than I am to 10th. As Schumacher forever#1 pointed out, the mid-field is very closely bunched, so a good last race pick, or a poor one, could make a big difference.

I've given this a bit more thought, as individual awards are to be given out for the top 24 placings there can't really be a joint position, so the tie break will be whoever scores the highest individual round.

Picks sent to Fountoukos13! Good luck everyone.
Not sure if I'll be able to watch the finale as I'll be leaving for a holiday on Saturday morning (anyone know how you can watch F1 on the Canary Islands?)

Which island you going to? I know a few sports bars in Tenerife and Lanzarote... failing that, depending on your WiFi speed I can PM you an app for android...

Anyhow, my final picks of the season:

1. Nico Rosberg (yes I think he'll surprise us all and dominate it)
2. Lewis Hamilton (a bad start and a futile recovery drive)
3. Daniel Ricciardo
4. Max Verstappen
5. Sebastian Vettel
6. Kimi Raikkonen
7. Nico Hulkenberg
8. Sergio Perez
9. Valtteri Bottas
10. Felipe Massa
