Come on man we nearly pulled off a shock last year. Let's do this. McLotus going for gold

Good to see you guys back - McLotus is too legendary of a name to lose from the grid! 8)

Does this mean we get some historical points bonus type thing?. :o

Welcome back! I believe theferret is still looking for a teammate, so you guys might try to get in touch:

Up for this again!

And the newly-formed racing team Massa Attack, a tricky new outfit looking to trip up the opposition, is seeking applications for a no.1 driver, since theferret cannot be trusted to lead the team to victory. Team-mate requirements are as follows:
1. Must be a human - can't stress the importance of this enough.
2. Must be able to outscore theferret across the season - let's face it, you don't want to lose to him.
3. Must be able to deal with the disappointment when theferret inevitably lets the team down...

If you've got the goods to keep the team safe from harm in this championship, come aboard! We may still have to pray for rain to ensure the results go our way and we don't finish dead-last, but let's hope not one teardrop will be shed at the end of the season. Who will be our angel?

I was pretty lousy at this game last year, but I struggle to remain uninvolved.
So here we go again.

2. Vettel
3. Bottas

According to the OP, the deadline is the start of FP1 this year (not FP3).

Oh yes OP is kinda confusing on deadline

Entries will be accepted up until the Grand Prix weekend of Melbourne (defined as the start of FP1); late entries are possible, but not preferred.

Good luck everyone, and have fun!

That's because you're taking quotes from two entirely different blocks of the text. The first one is correct for prediction submissions; the second quote you have in there is from the very bottom, and relates to entries into the competition itself - where 'entry' is 'entering to compete', not 'entering predictions for a weekend'.

To make it absolutely clear, however: The deadline to submit predictions for a given Grand Prix is always the official start of FP3 for that weekend.

And just like that Massa Attack is pleased to announce its lead driver for the campaign, Bentrovato! A force to be reckoned with, this plucky pair could very well be the dark horses of this year's championship.

My picks - Australia 2017

1. Hamilton
2. Vettel
3. Raikkonen

Whats peoples thoughts on picking Bottas? I know he is in the top car now but I picked him quite a few times when he was looking fast in the Williams and then underdelivered in qually and the race....Ive got him picked as second but very nervous.

He didn't look very good but it's early days. Red Bull didn't have a good FP2, it sounds like they went in the wrong direction set up wise but Dan sounded confident he could get up there if they did what they did in FP1.

I'm tempted to change to one of the bull boys in place of Kimi/Bottas but I can't make my mind up lol.

2017 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX RESULTS

Ferrari is back! And so is the Top Three Championship. In this first round of the new season, one lesson was plain for all to see: don't panic after FP2!

Despite strong form for the red cars in pre-season testing, a strong showing from the Silver Arrows had almost everyone diving to alter their predictions in favor of a Hamilton victory. The top two steps of the podium go then to the two contestants bold enough to stick with 'The Finger' for the top step, but only one entrant correctly foresaw the entire podium mix, and for that, his name stands alone atop our own podium: Congratulations to Herb, making a devastating statement for the young season by claiming the first Perfect Podium!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Place - 14 points
Herb

Second Place - 8 points
A.J.

Third Place - 1 point
Bentrovato, cm97, Icemanjee1, Mayhem, mcdo, TheDamus, TypingChicane

The Rest
Black_Flag_11, Exediron, Fountoukos13, Jenson's Understeer, Jezza13, Lotus49, Remmirath, robins13, Ruste13, theferret - 0 points

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to the general panicky tendencies of the grid, this was a low-scoring round. Herb begins the season strongly, but the real star of the show was arguably rookie contestant A.J., taking 2nd on debut. Behind them the field is essentially flat.

Individual Standings - Round One

1. Herb -- 14 Points
2. A.J. --- 8 Points
~ 3. Bentrovato --- 1 Point
~ 3. cm97 --- 1 Point
~ 3. Icemanjee1 --- 1 Point
~ 3. Mayhem --- 1 Point
~ 3. mcdo --- 1 Point
~ 3. TheDamus --- 1 Point
~ 3. TypingChicane --- 1 Point
~ 10. Black_Flag_11 --- 0 Points
~ 10. Exediron --- 0 Points
~ 10. Fountoukos13 --- 0 Points
~ 10. Jenson's Understeer --- 0 Points
~ 10. Jezza13 --- 0 Points
~ 10. Lotus49 --- 0 Points
~ 10. Remmirath --- 0 Points
~ 10. robins13 --- 0 Points
~ 10. Ruste13 --- 0 Points
~ 10. theferret --- 0 Points

In the team standings, the newly re-branded Jalopy Racing is off to a dominant start - no other team scored more than 2 points thanks to runner-up A.J's status as a free agent, leaving Herb's crew with a sizable 12-point lead in the standings after only one round. The chasing pack will be hoping this result is a one-off and not a sign of things to come.

Behind the leaders (albeit a long way behind) come Bernie's Bwoah, the only team to score with both drivers. They take away a pair of points, giving them double the score of the next group, consisting of McLotus, Drive Sauber, Sand Bag'n and Massa Attack. All of those teams scored a single point with one of their drivers.

It's a far more glum picture at the back of the grid, where we find two teams who are not accustomed to doing so poorly; 2016 champions Mind Your Manors are joined by 2015 champions No Limit Excedrin Racing (who are rapidly beginning to resemble McLaren more with each passing race), both legendary outfits beginning the season in the world possible way - a double no-score for their drivers. They will be furious with themselves for second-guessing the Ferrari form, and desperate to get some points on the board next time out in China.

Team Standings - Round One

1. Jalopy Racing (Herb & Jezza13) --- 14 Points
2. Bernie's Bwoah (Icemanjee1 & cm97) --- 2 Points
~ 3. Drive Sauber (Remmirath & TheDamus) --- 1 Point
~ 3. Massa Attack (theferret & Bentrovato) --- 1 Point
~ 3. McLotus (Lotus49 & mcdo) --- 1 Point
~ 3. Sand Bag'n (robins13 & Mayhem) --- 1 Point
~ 7. Mind Your Manors (Black_Flag_11 & Fountoukos13) --- 0 Points
~ 7. No Limit Excedrin Racing (Exediron & Jenson's Understeer) --- 0 Points

A low scoring beginning to the season, the uncertainty of Ferrari's form going forward - the pain of being burned once by not believing in the Scuderia...

Bring on China, and the prospect of real questions about the winning team for the first time in 3 years! :]

Definitely regretting not believing in Ferrari more there (especially since this was the only game where I backed off on that), but congrats to those who guessed right! This is shaping up to be a more difficult to predict season than the last one, so that should be interesting going forward.

And I still suck at this particular game while not being too shabby at the Pick 10(congrats there btw  )

Took me half the season last year to get going, hopefully not to be repeated. :x

I didn't believe in Ferrari's pace for Australia, so now I'm going to back them (well, Seb) which pretty much guarantees Merc will be the team to beat this weekend!

1. Vettel
2. Hamilton
3. Bottas

I think Mercedes will be strong but going to cover our tracks so Massa Attack has maximum coverage.
