2017 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX RESULTS

Ferrari satisfied the expectations of many by taking a second victory in the fading heat of the Bahraini desert, though the appearance of a safety car right after Vettel pitted again must have caused traumatic flashbacks to China for many who were backing the Scuderia's driver to take top honors. He held on, however, withstanding a late charge from Hamilton (a charge that never really was, thanks to a penalty he incurred for blocking Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo in the pitlane earlier in the afternoon) to take his 44th victory.

Many entrants (72% of those who filed a prediction) predicted Vettel to take the victory; the great majority (84%) of those also correctly sussed that Hamilton would follow him home in second. The issue of the third spot was a matter of somewhat more contention, however, with the majority this time getting it wrong and backing the second Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen. It was actually polesitter Valtteri Bottas who claimed the final spot on the podium, and it was the three entrants who correctly foresaw that occurrence who claim the perfect podium today:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Place - 14 points
Black_Flag_11, Exediron, TheDamus

Second Place - 8 points
Lotus49, Bentrovato, Jenson's Understeer, Fountoukos13, TypingChicane, cm97, Icemanjee1, robins13

Third Place - 6 points
Remmirath

The Rest
theferret - 5 points
mcdo, Mayhem, Ruste13, Jezza13, Herb - 1 point

Did Not Start
A.J.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was another high-scoring round for the Top Three Championship - in fact, every single contestant who filed a prediction scored at least one point. The surprise, however, was the championship leader Herb did not score well - in fact, he scored so badly that he has now become joint championship leader with one of the winners of the round; TheDamus has moved from a joint third to a joint lead on the strength of his impressive perfect podium, sitting equal with Herb atop the standings.

Right below the two leaders, the pack of equal third-placed contestants had started to fracture, with cm97, Icemanjee1 and TypingChicane remaining in that group, while the others fell down the order to varying degrees. Last round's winner mcdo comes next - alone in 6th position - then the other two perfect podium winners of this round, Exediron and Black_Flag_11, both having rocketed from 0 to 14 points on the strength of this race. Behind them, theferret and Mayhem round out the top ten as it stands.

Individual Standings - Round Three

~ 1. Herb -- 23 Points
~ 1. TheDamus --- 23 Points
~ 3. cm97 --- 17 Points
~ 3. Icemanjee1 --- 17 Points
~ 3. TypingChicane --- 17 Points
6. mcdo --- 16 Points
~ 7. Black_Flag_11 --- 14 Points
~ 7. Exediron --- 14 Points
9. theferret --- 13 Points
10. Mayhem --- 10 Points
~ 11. Bentrovato --- 9 Points
~ 11. Jezza13 --- 9 Points
~ 11. Lotus49 --- 9 Points
~ 11. Ruste13 --- 9 Points
~ 15. Fountoukos13 --- 8 Points (0 DNS)
~ 15. Jenson's Understeer --- 8 Points (0 DNS)
~ 15. robins13 --- 8 Points (0 DNS)
18. A.J. --- 8 Points (2 DNS)
19. Remmirath --- 6 Points

In the team standings, we see our first change at the top, as a terrible round for Jalopy Racing - scoring only 2 points, the least of any team - sees them knocked off the number one spot by the newly-rebranded Bernie's Bwoah team. Bernie's Bwoah has benefited from consistently strong scoring by both drivers, who sit in a tie for third place in the individual standings.

Behind them - and not very far behind, at that - the fight for the midfield is heating up nicely. McLotus is currently in possession of the 3rd spot with 25 points, but Driver Sauber (23 points) and the battling former champions Mind Your Manors and No Limit Excedrin Racing (22 points each, with a perfect podium each as well) as well as Massa Attack (22 points and no perfect podium) are all breathing right down the necks of the McLotus drivers with their hot digital breath.

Taking up the rear, although only 4 points adrift, Sand Bag'n will have to be debating whether it's far enough into the season to show the true performance of their package.

EDIT: Drive Sauber was initially credited with too few points. The table below now reflects the correct total after this round.

Team Standings - Round Three

1. Bernie's Bwoah (Icemanjee1 & cm97) --- 34 Points
2. Jalopy Racing (Herb & Jezza13) --- 32 Points
3. Drive Sauber (Remmirath & TheDamus) --- 29 Points
4. McLotus (Lotus49 & mcdo) --- 25 Points
~ 5. Mind Your Manors (Black_Flag_11 & Fountoukos13) --- 22 Points (1 Perfect Podium, 1 Win)
~ 5. No Limit Excedrin Racing (Exediron & Jenson's Understeer) --- 22 Points (1 Perfect Podium, 1 Win)
7. Massa Attack (theferret & Bentrovato) --- 22 Points (0 Perfect Podiums)
7. Sand Bag'n (robins13 & Mayhem) --- 18 Points

The gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down by Sebastian Vettel and Scuderia Ferrari. Will Russia prove a more Mercedes-friendly track in two weeks time, or will the soulless grey walls of Sochi claim another victim as the Silver Arrows' unbroken run of victories at the Black Sea resort comes to a smashing end at the hands of The Finger?

And will our own run of different round winners continue to four, or will the Top Three Championship see the first repeat winner of 2017?

 :smug:

Well, sure glad I changed those picks. Glad I have faith in Ferrari but none in Kimi.

On a side (pride) note my teammate's score has not been added to mine in the team standings. Drive Sauber should be on 29 points please.

PS. I'm cool to be our first repeat winner

Good catch - I've fixed the issue and updated the post.

Editing my Hamilton/Vettel/Bottas prediction based on FP1/2 to:

1. Vettel
2. Raikkonen
3. Hamilton

Not particularly confident putting that much faith in Kimi, mind!

Podium Prediction

1. Sebastian Vettel
2. Lewis Hamilton
3. Valtteri Bottas

I really thought about putting Bottas ahead of Hamilton, but I'm concerned that even if he ends up ahead Merc will just order Lewis through for the sake of the long game.

2017 RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX RESULTS

Apologies for this terse update. My main computer is kaput, and I'm using my laptop instead. I also don't have access to my usual document, so keep an eye out for possible attribution errors!

This was, unsurprisingly, a low-scoring round. Nobody predicted Bottas to win, and ironically the actual winners of this round universally predicted a Hamilton victory. Their reward for backing the most underperforming driver of the weekend is 3 points and the victory. Go figure!

The run of perfect podium winners is also well and truly over.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Place - 3 points
Jezza13, TheDamus, Lotus49, Icemanjee1, theferret, Mayhem

Second Place - 1 point
Black_Flag_11, TypingChicane, robins13, Remmirath

Third Place - 0 points
Everybody else

Did Not Start
A.J.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite the low average score, we do still see a change at the top of the standings; Herb failed to score any points, whereas Theamus was one of the join-winners. TheDamus is the new championship leader, with a 3 point gap.

Individual Standings - Round Four

1. TheDamus --- 26 Points
2. Herb -- 23 Points
3. Icemanjee1 --- 20 Points
4. TypingChicane --- 18 Points
5. cm97 --- 17 Points
6. mcdo --- 16 Points (1 Perfect Podium)
7. theferret --- 16 Points (0 Perfect Podiums)
8. Black_Flag_11 --- 15 Points
9. Exediron --- 14 Points
10. Mayhem --- 13 Points
~ 11. Jezza13 --- 12 Points
~ 11. Lotus49 --- 12 Points
~ 13. Bentrovato --- 9 Points
~ 13. robins13 --- 9 Points
~ 13. Ruste13 --- 9 Points
~ 16. Fountoukos13 --- 8 Points (0 DNS)
~ 16. Jenson's Understeer --- 8 Points (0 DNS)
18. A.J. --- 8 Points (3 DNS)
19. Remmirath --- 7 Points

The order atop the teams standings remains unchanged. Massa attack is the biggest mover, gaining two places.

Team Standings - Round Four

1. Bernie's Bwoah (Icemanjee1 & cm97) --- 37 Points
2. Jalopy Racing (Herb & Jezza13) --- 35 Points
3. Drive Sauber (Remmirath & TheDamus) --- 33 Points
4. McLotus (Lotus49 & mcdo) --- 28 Points
5. Massa Attack (theferret & Bentrovato) --- 25 Points
6. Mind Your Manors (Black_Flag_11 & Fountoukos13) --- 23 Points
7. No Limit Excedrin Racing (Exediron & Jenson's Understeer) --- 22 Points (1 Perfect Podium)
8. Sand Bag'n (robins13 & Mayhem) --- 22 Points (0 Perfect Podiums)

And that's it for Russia, folks!

(Hopefully a full-length update next time)

Nah you're still pulling the lions share of the points so you're all good. I'm going to have to stop writing Bottas(And to an extent Ferrari) off I think, It's cost a lot of points the last 2 races.

We're still in touching distance though.

Ah it's written in the stars for you this year in one of these games I'm telling you. You're smashing it in the Pick10 as well and you nearly changed your picks there too!.

I think I had my worst week in that competition for a while, horrid score this time. :uhoh:

Putting in an early prediction because I expect to be without internet until Saturday next week. I may update it if I end up being able to check after FP2 after all.

Spanish Grand Prix
1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Valtteri Bottas
3. Sebastian Vettel

Really hoping FP1 isn't an accurate picture of the Merc/Ferrari relative performance. Merc can't suddenly be a whole second clear, can they? Still:

1. Hamilton
2. Bottas
3. Vettel

After much thought, I'm leaving my predictions as is. We all panicked in Australia when Merc went half a second faster in FP2, and look where that got us!

:uhoh:
