1. Vettel
2. Raikkonen
3. Hamilton

I was hoping for practice to shed some light on the order, well I've got money on Hamilton so if I go Vettel then I can't lose :smug:

So it will probably be a crazy race and be won by Magnussen.

Considering we aren't even certain when the race will be held, let's place some picks now.

Still no idea if it's going to be a dry or a wet race, so I'll just copy my podium from the Pick 10 competition.

China:

1. Hamilton
2. Vettel
3. Raikkonen

Nicely played mcdo, chassis side delivering again. 8)

2017 CHINESE GRAND PRIX RESULTS

Mercedes is back! And it's almost like they never left...

Following on from Melbourne, the prevailing feeling was that whichever car was stronger, we were going to have a real fight on our hands come China. That turned out to be the case - though Hamilton would go on to win by a comfortable margin of more than eight seconds, it might have been different if not for the second safety car (and another case of questionable strategy by Ferrari, not ordering their number one driver past his slower teammate!). But while quite a number of people - just over half - predicted a Hamilton victory (and every one of those predicted Vettel to come second - confidence in Bottas was not high this time), there was only one entrant bold enough to place Max Verstappen in the third spot of the podium. After qualifying, where Max had an engine problem and started from the back of the grid, this must have looked like a disastrous mistake - but it paid off in the end, giving mcdo the coveted perfect podium and the solo round win! Well done, mcdo!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Place - 14 points
mcdo

Second Place - 8 points
Herb, TypingChicane, cm97, Icemanjee1, Mayhem, TheDamus, theferret, Ruste13, Jezza13

Third Place - 1 point
Lotus49

The Rest
Black_Flag_11, Exediron, Fountoukos13, Jenson's Understeer, Remmirath, robins13, Bentrovato - 0 points

Did Not Start
A.J.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Relatively high confidence in a Hamilton victory - as opposed to the near-zero confidence in last round's surprise (but not surprise) winner - leads to a decent amount of scoring this round. While mcdo claimed top honors in the race, championship leader Herb was right behind, claiming eight points and maintaining his place at the top of the table for now:

Individual Standings - Round Two

1. Herb -- 22 Points
2. mcdo --- 15 Points
~ 3. cm97 --- 9 Points
~ 3. Icemanjee1 --- 9 Points
~ 3. Mayhem --- 9 Points
~ 3. TheDamus --- 9 Points
~ 3. TypingChicane --- 9 Points
~ 8. Jezza13 --- 8 Points (0 DNS)
~ 8. Ruste13 --- 8 Points (0 DNS)
~ 8. theferret --- 8 Points (0 DNS)
11. A.J. --- 8 Points (1 DNS)
~ 12. Bentrovato --- 1 Point
~ 12. Lotus49 --- 1 Point
~ 14. Black_Flag_11 --- 0 Points
~ 14. Exediron --- 0 Points
~ 14. Fountoukos13 --- 0 Points
~ 14. Jenson's Understeer --- 0 Points
~ 14. Remmirath --- 0 Points
~ 14. robins13 --- 0 Points

In the team standings, the reborn Jalopy Racing continues to tear things up at the top, maintaining their lead of 12 points over their nearest competitors, the re-branded Bernie's Bwoah.

While Jalopy Racing enjoys some room at the top, there is little to be found between 2nd and 3rd; the mighty McLotus sits just two points further back, and will surely be looking to capitalize on mcdo's dominant performance in this round to move up the order and challenge the upstarts.

Further back in the midfield, it's a three-way tie, with Drive Sauber, Massa Attack and Sand Bag'n all currently sitting on an equal 9 points. Of the three, Massa Attack is the only one to have received scoring from both drivers; the other teams have received all of their points to date from a single source. But at least they have points...

... unlike the final two teams in the standings. It's panic time at defending champions Mind Your Manors and 2015 title-winners No Limit Excedrin Racing; despite their pedigree, both outfits currently sit tied for dead last in the championship with 0 points across all four drivers. This will not have been how either storied team excepted to start the year, and it can only be a matter of time before heads begin to fly in the search for any sort of competitive spark to move these one-time title contenders back into the points. Already, there are rumors that all four drivers will quit the league by Canada.

Team Standings - Round Two

1. Jalopy Racing (Herb & Jezza13) --- 30 Points
2. Bernie's Bwoah (Icemanjee1 & cm97) --- 18 Points
3. McLotus (Lotus49 & mcdo) --- 16 Points
~ 4. Drive Sauber (Remmirath & TheDamus) --- 9 Points
~ 4. Massa Attack (theferret & Bentrovato) --- 9 Points
~ 4. Sand Bag'n (robins13 & Mayhem) --- 9 Points
~ 7. Mind Your Manors (Black_Flag_11 & Fountoukos13) --- 0 Points
~ 7. No Limit Excedrin Racing (Exediron & Jenson's Understeer) --- 0 Points

The promise of Australia has been fulfilled, and two different teams have now won the opening two rounds of the championship. With two teams (but only two drivers) looking in contention to win on any given weekend, who will play their cards right when F1 comes to the desert in one week's time?

And can anyone put a stop to Herb? We'll see in Bahrain! :o

I'm a little stuck on this one, Kimi normally goes well here but he missed FP1 and it doesn't look like Ferrari have much of, if any, advantage.

Bwoahrain
1. Vettel
2. Hamilton
3. Bottas

I have no faith in Kimi right now unfortunately.

I'm tempted to switch him out but I'll leave him in.

If it doesn't happen here though he isn't getting a sniff of getting back in until at least Spa!.

2. Kimi Raikkonen
3. Valtteri Bottas

My supposedly safe picks haven't been working out, so it's time to try something else.

A quick glance shows 0 people have picked Bottas to win... we sure do know our stuff!

Should be a good one tomorrow, though.

Well, two out of three's not bad, but my gamble on Kimi finishing second in Bahrain more often than not didn't pay off... so much for basing part of a prediction on past statistics. :-P
