F1 Triple Top-3 Game:
I am hoping to start a new game on the forum, so I thought I'd canvas opinion and interest. If you might like to play or have any suggestions for improving the rules please add a post. If there's enough interest we can run for the remainder of the 2017 season, with a full game in 2018.
F1 Triple Top-3 Rules:
For each Grand Prix you have to pick the top 3 qualifiers; the first 3 drivers at half-race distance; and the first 3 at the end of the race.
For each of the 3 race stages points awarded are:
P1 correct - 4 pts,
P2 correct - 3 pts,
P3 correct - 2 pts.
P1, P2 & P3 all correct - 1 extra pt.
If your driver prediction for P1 comes 2nd - 3pts; if they’re 3rd - 2pts
If your driver prediction for P2 comes 1st or 3rd - 2pts
If your driver prediction for P3 comes 2nd - 1pt
There are therefore 30pts maximum per race.
If the race lap total is an odd number the half-distance lap is defined as the first lap after half-distance. So in a 60-lap race it’s at the end of lap 30, in a 59-lap race it’s also at the end of lap 30.
The first 3 drivers at half-race distance are the first 3 to complete the half-distance lap. It makes no difference if any or all of them retire on the next lap. They must also cross the timing line on-track – any driver stopping at or passing through the pits that lap is not counted.
It makes no difference if a safety-car period or virtual safety-car period spans the half-distance lap, but as above any driver in the pits is not counted.
If a race is red-flagged and restarted the half-distance lap is the one at half of the accumulated race length. So if a race is stopped after 20 laps, and restarted, running another 40 laps, the half-distance lap is lap 30 – which is lap 10 in the 2nd part of the race. This stands even if the race was originally scheduled for more than 60 laps.
If a race is red-flagged early and not restarted, the half-distance lap is at half of the number of laps actually run, not those scheduled.
For each one of the 3 race stages your 3 predictions must be different drivers.
All predictions must be entered on this thread on the PF1 forum before the start of FP1 at the relevant GP. To avoid any misunderstandings please label your post with the GP name and call your 3 top-3 predictions Q1, R1 and R2. Any entries received late will be disallowed. No score averaging will take place for missed GPs, so if you miss a race you miss it!
I will post the results for each race and the cumulative points table on this thread as soon as possible after each GP.
