Well, it does seem that every single prediction has Hamilton somewhere in the top three, so yeah - not looking too likely. Still, you never know what a well-timed safety car could do, so it's not too late!

Nothing more annoying than calling it right on pace between Merc/Ferrari for once and then having circumstance take it away!

Good result for the teams championship though, well done Carl

GERMAN GRAND PRIX RESULTS

The German Grand Prix followed on in the tradition of the last few races, with the pole sitter failing to win in shocking fashion. But while it was a mechanical DNF in Austria, and a poor started followed by being punted on the first lap in Britain, at the Hockenheim Ring the woes of the pole sitter were entirely self-inflicted. Sebastian Vettel could and should have won the race, but a small slip into the gravel put paid to that (and his championship lead) and allowed Lewis Hamilton to take a shock victory from 14th on the grid.

Since the pace between Mercedes and Ferrari looked close in practice, predictions were roughly split between Hamilton and Vettel to take the top step. Like a seesaw of emotion the feelings of those competitors flipped as Vettel's car went into the wall, and suddenly it was those who had predicted a Mercedes 1-2 who were laughing at their TV sets and smartphones. However, very few indeed had predicted that it would be Raikkonen who followed the Silver Duo home...

In fact, only one entrant did. Taking his first Perfect Podium since returning to CarlPotter's Top Three Championship this year, it is none other than... CarlPotter!

First Place - 14 points

Second Place - 8 points
Jezza13

Third Place - 6 points
Remmirath

The Rest
Icemanjee1, P-F1 Mod, Jenson's Understeer, Bentrovato, Mod Blue, Lotus49 - 5 points
cm97 - 1 point
Exediron, Mod Titanium, Mayhem, Black_Flag_11, robins13, Flash2k11, Mod Onyx, TypingChicane, Herb, Espo - 0 points

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Individual Standings - Round Eleven

Image

While the name at the top remains the same - just! - there has been a bit of a shuffle in the ranks:

Jezza13 moves up to claim 2nd place - tied on points for first, but lacking that Perfect Podium to break a tie - and demotes robins13 and cm97 as a result, despite the latter putting up a single point this round. Behind them, Remmirath is on a tear right now (not only here, but in the Top Ten as well!) and moves up all the way to 4th position from 9th, becoming the joint-second biggest mover of the round along with Icemanjee1, who moves from 11th to 7th. Further down, Jenson's Understeer re-enters the top ten, moving from 12th to 9th and re-passing his teammate (who was feeling smugly satisfied until Vettel hit the wall) in the process.

It is right outside the top ten that the biggest mover of the round is to be found, however, and that in itself is a testament to how badly he needed this result. CarlPotter climbs an impressive eight places in the standings, moving from 19th position to 11th.

At the back, Lotus49 and P-F1 Mod scored the same thing, so they don't change their places. They do, however, put some distance between themselves and the reigning champion TypingChicane, who continues to endure a shocking season and has only scored twice the whole year, neither one being a victory.

Team Standings - Round Eleven

Image

Over on the team side, things have heated up, and here there is a change for the lead! Another failure to score by Sand Bag'n sees them finally lose the championship lead, being overtaken by the newly formed (but highly experienced) Bwoah Steering Wheel team. They fall to 2nd place, tied on points with the defending champs Jalopy Racing but ahead on wins.

No Limit Excedrin Racing holds station in 4th on the strength of Jenson's Understeer's result, as does Crisis in Management, being one of several teams to score 5 points. While their sister team Management in Crisis also scored the same, they lose a position to The Also Rans, who move forward several places on the strength of their Perfect Podium. Drive Sauber remains at the back of the tight midfield pack, but has gained slightly - they scored 1 point more than most of their opposition did.

At the back, it's a sad story for the newly rebranded Lotus-CC racing. The departure of the 2017 champion mcdo from the team has clearly destroyed their morale, and they now sit more than a perfect podium behind the next closest team. Rumors of an imminent takeover by Lawrence Stroll have been denied by the janitor, the only man we could find willing to give an interview.

CHAMPIONSHIP PICTURE

With Mod Titanium failing to score in the last three rounds, it seems only a matter of time before the championship lead changes hands. But who will be the challenger? Jezza13 is tied on points, and robins13 and cm97 are close as well.

The momentum, however, is all with Remmirath, who has scored points in the last six consecutive races (a record for this season) and only has three non-scores on the year (also a record).

NEXT RACE

Next race marks the end of the first half of the season: held at the Hungaroring as typical, it will be blisteringly hot (no pun intended, but blisters are certainly a possibility) and - on paper, at least - a track that favors Ferrari and Red Bull. However, we have seen many times this season that the favored team rarely wins, so predictions are sure to be many and varied.

With Perfect Podiums successfully scored at the last two Grands Prix by a single entrant taking an outside chance, the reward for staying outside the norm is clear to see. But who will be bold - and lucky - enough to grasp the correct combination in a week's time?

To that competitor will likely go the championship lead. 8)

Thanks - it started as a one-off for France, but then I decided I liked making the header images as much or more than I liked writing the thing up, so now it's stuck. Just another little bit of history to my time curating the thread, I suppose.

It happens. The different competitions take very different skill sets to be good at, and nobody has ever won two of them in the same season (although mcdo came very close last year).

I'm very likely to come back and change this, assuming I remember to do so:

1. Verstappen
2. Ricciardo
3. Vettel

Hardest race to predict since Australia, IMO.

Yeah, I wouldn't be looking forward to doing this one without practice results.

I feel pretty confident based on FP1. Or at least as confident as anyone could be relying on both Red Bulls to make it to the end of the race...

Thanks for the heads up. No, I record 'em at the start of FP3 or the next time I'm able.

You do realize that you've just exponentially increased the chances that Max will be on the podium with that edit, right? :]

Edited my picks to put Kimi in 3rd instead of Verstappen, just in case you've already made note of my picks

Thanks for the heads up. No, I record 'em at the start of FP3 or the next time I'm able.

You do realize that you've just exponentially increased the chances that Max will be on the podium with that edit, right? :]

I can see it coming already

Maybe I should put some money on a Max podium and that way I can't lose... until he retires with engine issues.
