The search is buggy, I just tried searching for it myself and it didn’t come up in the search bar. Maybe trying again in a bit.

Yeah, but this way it can mine data from your phone and sell it... or am I being too cynical? :uhoh:

Managed to join the league. I'm just Exediron now, so it should be easy to figure out who's me.

Melbourne update

Image

F1 is back baby. Time to run what you brung and let your car do the talking. All the speculation leading up to Melbourne was all eyes on Ferrari but the reining, defending undisputed champs had a lot to demonstrate with both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas putting on quite the display of driving in the first qualifying of the season. Resulting in a Mercedes front row lock out with Hamilton on pole but bottas close behind.

At lights out, bottas checked out. Leaving Hamilton with a great view of his tail lights as he began his stellar performance of the day gaining his first win since 2017. Another great drive was by the baby faced assassin Max Verstappen who took full advantage of Ferrari’s lack of race pace and put him self on the podium. Eager to see where all the cars truly stack against each other in the upcoming.

Meeeeaaaannnn while Our race was off to solid start for team J aka icemanjee1 netting a solid 44 points and gaining their first win. CONGRADULATIONS

🥇J - 44 👑
🥈Mitch Kendrick - 34
🥉Banceri - 27
- Project mayhem -27
- Daniel Palmer- 27
———————————-
Best of the rest

4) Jn23- 25
4) Exedirion - 21

Still plenty of time to join the game if any other teams wish to enter. Also be sure to confirm your teams by posting your team name in this thread or you will not be included in the results.

Unconfirmed teams are

J Hudson - ?????
Tobhussey - ?????

How do you look back on your predictions in this new app environment? It looks like my 10 points come purely from predicting Hamilton on pole, but that can't be right - I should have points for Lewis in 2nd at least (I had him to win), and I know I had Stroll for most positions gained. So I'm afraid I'm going to have to protest my 10 points to the stewards, assuming I can figure out how to contact the stewards using this useless frikkin' app... x(

Not a bad start, assuming the scores are accurate :-|

The app is awful, but slightly better than the website which I can't even log into now. Hopefully they sort it out and don't ruin the whole season of this competition.

I can't remember exactly what I predicted, but I'm 100% sure that it's not accurate. :-P

I did email them, but who knows how long that’s going to be. My scores were off as well. I got no points for being 1 off on atleast 2 drivers and I still can’t figure out how to see my previous prediction on the app. Gonna have to start screen shoting my entries

The scoring is definitely off and I can’t figure out how to see my predictions.., this app really sucks imo

Do you guys want to post the predictions here and I’ll do the scoring???

If I remembered all of mine, I'd be happy to! :-P

Like you say, I'm going to have to start taking a screenshot after I've finalized them. I remember I had Hamilton to win, and I know I had Lewis for pole and Stroll for positions gained. I'm pretty sure I had both Haas cars and both Renaults in the bottom four. But I don't remember the exact places.

On the home page of the app there is a contact us button for any problems. I tried to send a message via that today but it wouldn't let me. What a shambles.

If everyone is willing, I'd say posting a screenshot of your final prediction is a reasonable stopgap solution going forward until they fix their app. It's not ideal, but I think we can trust each other enough.

Maybe if we post the screenshot after qualifying but before the race? That way there's a record in this thread that Mayhem can look at, just to make sure it's all above the board.

So , I tried to look the scores on the app again. Nope. The app is still very bad. So i tried to login using the web browser . And it worked . It showed the predictions which I had made.

One thing which I noticed , which I don't know how many here know, is that scoring rules is very different this year, than the one mentioned in the 1st post. For those who haven't seen it , I'll directly post the scoring rules from their website below:

SCORING:

Since the most interesting battle happens below the podium line , points will be awarded as follows:

Guessing the exact place will bring points as shown:

1st place - 5 points
2nd place - 6 points
3rd place - 7 points
4th place - 8 points
5th place - 9 points
6th place - 10 points
7th place - 11 points
8th place - 12 points
9th place - 13 points
10th place - 14 points

Extra points will be awarded:

3 points - Prediction one place away from actual finishing position
2 points - Prediction two places from actual finishing position

Race events:

Extra points can be scored under the following criteria:

10 points - Correctly selecting the driver on pole position
10 points - Correctly selecting the driver with fastest race lap
10 points - Correctly selecting the driver who gained the most positions
10 points - Correctly selecting the driver reached the top speed

BONUS Points:

The bonus points system is simple and based on individual race performance. Bonus points will therefore be awarded for achieving the following landmark sequences or predictions in any race as follows:

30 bonus points - Correctly predict all top-3 finishers in exact order
60 bonus points - Correctly predict all top-6 finishers in exact order
100 bonus points - Correctly predict all 10 finishers in exact order
40 bonus points - Correctly predict all 4 special events

Looks like exact position predictions are more important this year.

I tallied my predictions with the new rules , and they haven't awarded points for driver predictions being 1 or 2 positions away.

You're right, I hadn't seen those new scoring rules anywhere. I was mentally adding up what I knew I must have had based on the previous system.

I was able to see my predictions using the web version (good tip) and checked the scores. I didn't have anyone in exactly the right place, but I should have a total of 11 points worth of near placings. I have the correct 10 bonus points for Hamilton on pole.

In terms of the other three bonus categories, however, I'm almost completely sure it doesn't have the things I predicted. It claims I had Gasly for places gained, Russel for fastest lap and Hamilton for top speed. I don't remember who I picked for top speed, but I can't imagine why I would have put Gasly for places gained (before qualifying, that is!) and Russel of all people for fastest lap. That one is proof that either I was blackout drunk, or something has gone wrong with my prediction. :-P

The app is filled with glitches & too cumbersome for me. I preferred it on the Desktop / Laptop version. I won't be joining if the app is the only option.

In the app If you go into the “league screen” and scroll all the way down it shows the rules and scoring it states this which are same rules they have had. The only thing not mentioned is the bonus points

“Points will be awarded as follows:
• 10 points - Correctly predicted finishing position.
• 5 points - Prediction one place away from actual finishing position.
• 2 points - Prediction two places away from actual finishing position.
• 0 points - Prediction more than two places away from actual finishing position.

Race Events:
Extra points can be scored under the following criteria:
•10 points - Correctly selecting the driver on pole position.
•10 points - Correctly selecting the driver with fastest race lap.
•10 points - Correctly selecting the driver who gained the most positions.
•10 points - Correctly selecting the driver with fastest race lap.
•10 points - Correctly selecting the driver reached the top speed.

I haven’t attempted to check out this nightmare version on a pc yet. But I don’t think relying on this site anymore is going to be a viable option. My suggestion is we post our predictions here like you would in any other game on the forum and I’ll do the scoring based on the rules that are posted in my opening post. That is my suggestion, how do you guys feel about that ?

I'm ok with it. That will be super if You take the trouble of calculating the scores based on the scoring system there.

I'm happy with that if you're happy to take the time to do the scoring. Would we start from Bahrain giving the issues with the app in Australia?

I don't understand the points structure this year.

Last year I would have gotten 5 pts each for predicting the two Mercedes as 1-2, but mixed order (HAM 5 BOT 5), 10 pts for predicting Verstappen taking 3rd, 10 pts for Vettel finishing 4th, 10pts for LeClerc correctly taking 5th, 2pts for Gasly taking 9th (but finishing 11th), and 5 pts for HAM taking pole... 47 pts total.

This year, no pts awarded for predicting anyone 1 or two spots from where they finish. I got 10 pts for HAM taking pole. 7 pts for VER correctly taking 3rd, and a puzzling 8 pts for VET correctly taking 4th. No pts for correctly calling LEC 5th (?). Total 25 pts. Why a correct 4th gets more points than an equally correct 3rd prediction makes no sense.

And there is no explanation at all in the "Scoring" section.

As I had put in my previous post above , the scoring rules on the website is different this year. But Mayhem posted that on the app , it was the same old rules. I didn't find the rules on the Android app. So maybe it's on the iOS version of the app.

For the points you have been awarded , it looks like the new scoring rules from the website has been applied. From my above post:

SCORING:

Since the most interesting battle happens below the podium line , points will be awarded as follows:

Guessing the exact place will bring points as shown:

1st place - 5 points
2nd place - 6 points
3rd place - 7 points
4th place - 8 points
5th place - 9 points
6th place - 10 points
7th place - 11 points
8th place - 12 points
9th place - 13 points
10th place - 14 points

And other similar rules as mentioned.

In your case , it looks like Max and Vettel have been given points according to the new rules , but not Leclerc . No clue why.
The points allocation has been messy , with neither the old nor the new rules applied properly.

And no clue why predicting a Mercedes 1-2 gets no points at all.

Gee, and all this time I thought that finishing ninth or tenth didn't matter... No wait... It still doesn't matter a frip... Except in this stupid app.

I suppose next we will read proposals to institute this points structure for the F1 Championship itself? Doesn't reward speed at all, and we can watch the drivers fight for a now meaningless pole, only to slow down to jostle for 10th place. Can't imagine HAM and VET and VER fighting for "more interesting" placings below the podium, like 10th.

Might as well throw away that new rule awarding a point for fastest lap. too.

And all this time I thought handing out "attendance awards" for participating was just a politically correct, smarmy American idea.

I'm not about to grab one of my son's Dungeons and Dragons 12-sided dies, to relabel with 3-letter names of mid-pack, also ran drivers. So, I have to re-evaluate whether this nonsense is worth my time...

I get why you're annoyed, but it actually is more difficult to predict the positions lower down the order. It doesn't make any sense to award more points for finish 10th than 1st, but it's often a lot more difficult to correctly guess it.

Well, the first corner accidents are almost always in the midpack, or affect the midpack, sacking any semblence of educated guessing, as your favorite 6th and 9th place finishers (or more) get punted to the curb. So trying to pick these are simply a roll of dice, IMO. Not very precise for a technically exacting sport.

I'd like to think that following F1 for decades has allowed me (and you) the armchair knowledge to pick winners and losers based on information and logic, not a random number generator.

That 12-sided die may come in handy afterall... throw out the Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull drivers, then subtract both Williams candidates going nowhere. That leaves 12 drivers, one for each facet of that D&D die. Only problem is I don't feature myself rolling a dice to play an adolescent game related to a multi-billion dollar sport.

I don't play my state's Lottery, either.

Finally managed to log on using my computer and they've updated the points again I think. My points have changed at least.

Are we going with Mayhem's suggestion from further up the page or giving the website/app another go?

Hi guys,

I jumped through all of the hoops to create a team (on PC) but it won't let me join the league because there is a requirement of downloading the app. My phone is far too old to even attempt trying to get an app to run on it.

I'm always up for trying different F1 fantasy games, but this one fails miserably right from the start.

Yeah. It's a shame in this case, because this used to be the best of them before they ruined it this year. :frown:

So they've pushed out an update on the Android version of the app , and now it's showing the previous race predictions. They've also corrected the points awarded to include the extra bonus for predicting 1 or 2 places away.

One update? My android has received TWO updates in the last 24 hours. I guess they don't believe in Beta testing wherever this app is made. (Haven't seen "gain" (position) spelled "gane" since the 2nd grade.)

At least the point structure has been fully implemented as intended. Still think the reverse points for the lotto finishing positions are a joke, though.

Scoring update!!!

The site has made the fixed the scoring errors which in return has changed the previous results posted. Since it seems to be working at the moment we will give the site another go.

I recommend you take a screen shot of your predictions / post your predictions here before qualifying starts as a backup for this weekend.

Sorry to hear that, it really is a shame as exedrin stated they screwed up royally this year forcing the app
