Ladies and gentlemen, it is back... the PF1 Pick 10 Competition! 2014 Edition

Before explaining the rules, I would like to thank specdecible for creating this back in the day. I would also like to thank coulthard's chin for helping me out last year. Those who want to take a look at last year's results: http://forum.planet-f1.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6328&start=2000

This year will without a doubt be the most difficult season ever to predict. Let's hope for a bigger than ever edition!

Rules are simple, pick 10 drivers you think will finish the race in the points and place them in the order of which you think they will finish. Points are awarded according to the difference your selection is from the race result, providing the selected drivers score points.
o Picking driver in correct place earns 25 points.
o One place out earns 18 points.
o Two places out earns 15 points.
o Three places out earns 12 points.
o Four places out earns 10 points.
o Five places out earns 8 points.
o Six places out earns 6 points.
o Seven places out earns 4 point.
o Eight places out earns 2 point.
o Nine places out earns 1 point.
Maximum points per race is 250.

Example for the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix:

Tip / Result: Points

1: Webber / 2nd: 18 points
2: Grosjean / ret: 0 points
3: Vettel / 1st: 15 points
4: Alonso / 3rd: 18 points
5: Hamilton / 9th: 10 points
6: Vergne / 15th: 0 points
7: Massa / 7th: 25 points
8: Gutierrez / 12th: 0 points
9: Button / 4th: 8 points
10: Ricciardo / 10th: 25 points

Therefore my overall score for Brazil would be:
119 points

The person who has the most points by the end of the season wins the championship.

Your picks must be entered before Friday Practice 1 and can be changed any time before the session starts (just be sure to let me know). Any late picks will incur a penalty depending on how many sessions have passed.
-15 points for FP1
-18 points for FP2
-25 points for SP1
-DSQ for Qual

Incase the forum temporary closes during a race week and you are unable to submit your entry, your average score from past rounds will be used.

What are you waiting for? You have 19 days 3 hours and 38 minutes until Practice 1 of the Melbourne Grand Prix!

@Moderators: Can I kindly ask you to postpone moving this topic to the "Games" section as I would like to attract as many members as possible at least until Melbourne?! To make it a sticky would be nice

This year is going to be FUN!

Lets see if I can retain the championship or pass on the mantle to another deserving winner.

Very glad to see it back.

Predictions this year will be a complete lottery thanks to lesser reliability. Here goes nothing...

EDIT: 2nd March. New predictions as follows...

Australia
1. Rosberg
2. Hamilton
3. Massa
4. Bottas
5. Alonso
6. Raikkonen
7. Button
8. Magnussen
9. Hulkenberg
10. Perez

Some of these cars are going to break down. I can see one car each from Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Force India hitting trouble, but better to play safe at this point rather than guessing which drivers won't reach the chequered flag.

Glad to see it back! Think the first few races could be very interesting indeed!

Hopefully this stays on the main forum page for a while as the Games forum hardly has any footfall :-|

Originally I thought moving the topic to this page would damage the competition, but having thought about it maybe having the topic here is a positive thing. It will get rid of a lot of the players who only bother doing the first couple of races and hopefully we will have a field of 40 or so players who play most weeks. I think that would make the competition a bit richer and would make the job of calculating the results a bit less time consuming.

I will wait until after the end of the Bahrain test to make my predictions, although it appears my hopes of a Lotus surprise are fading fast!

Alright here we go, first race is going to be risky so I'm going to go make or break and change it up a bit from most people...

1-Hamilton
2-Rosberg
3-Alonso
4-Vettel
5-Button
6-Raikkonen
7-Ricciardo
8-Massa
9-Grosjean
10-Perez

Now I just need to hope that RBR have either found a way for their car to either NOT be on fire, orrrrr perhaps more likely complete a race distance whilst on fire

Hi guys, hope everyone enjoys the competition again this year, I unfortunately won't be joining in for a fourth season.

I find on race day that I'm too busy trying to decide what I want more, for my favourite drivers to do well or for them to finish where I predicted them.

Say Massa is going for a podium on Sunday and I've predicted him for P5. I can never decide if I want him to fall down to P5 for my own personal glory or I want him to keep on fighting for a strong finish. It happened far too often last year for me so I'm making my race days easier and calling it quits.

I know some people were really pushing for the Lewis Hamilton trophy in particular and I think I will willingly relinquish it this year rather than try to win it a third year running!

Have fun everyone, I'll still be watching the results with interest.

I know what you mean, and as a result I usually end up with too optimistic predictions for my favorites just so I don't on any level wish for them to do worse than they are. As a result I rarely do well in the competition!

Haha don't take it too seriously, come and join the fun this year too :D
I know we are all very passionate about this, but still I wish my favorites to do well in race rather than the entry I made here.
Actually I used to put my favorites as high as possible ;)
