McLaren had better concentrate on the here and now, rather than 30-years down the road. If they don't, McLaren won't be around by 2050 (if not well before then).

Maybe 2050 is when they think they can make it back to the front of the grid

Exactly, when it looks like something from a bad sci-fi movie, it probably wasn't designed by an engineer. This is a purely marketing exercise to get McLaren column inches.
